Default Nemesis (1992) and its Sequels Coming from MVD Rewind Collection

Nemesis Blu-ray

Eric from MVD Rewind Collection did an unboxing/update video yesterday on Facebook and answered a few questions from collectors. One fan asked about the Sci-Fi/Action flick Nemesis and Eric confirmed that not only did they recently acquire the 1992 original, they've got the three sequels as well.

I've never seen Nemesis but I'm a huge Horror fan and collector and have seen that title thrown around quite a bit. Hope this is good news for you Nemesis fans out there. Plus, I like making more people aware of MVD since they're putting out some really fun stuff that reminds me of late '80s/early '90s Sunday afternoon movies on TV growing up in NY (The Return of Swamp Thing, Black Eagle) and late '90s trips to the video store with friends (Bram Stoker's Shadowbuilder).

The first movie was one of my favorites and ended up selling the DVD several years ago. Good to see this coming out on blu-ray.

Nemesis is pretty awesome. It's like Albert Pyun discovered John Woo flicks like The Killer and Hard Boiled right before directing this, and did his best to replicate Woo-style action and gunplay, with surprisingly good results.

The sequels are atrocious, though.

Maybe we'll be lucky and MVD somehow won't utilize the Krekel "restorations".

I already have the German set, thankfully given to me free. I'll definitely wait to see some reviews on the MVD transfers before buying.

I have toyed with the idea of importing these, but now I will hold off and see what MVD has to offer.

Albert Pyun is a favorite B movie director of mine.

Hopefully it's a solid transfer. Will wait for reviews like others have said.

Not really familiar with Albert Pyun but I did enjoy Radioactive Dreams. I think I rented Nemesis in the mid 90's but don't recall much about it. How is MVD overall as a video label? Hit or miss?

MVD (at least with the Rewind Collection) seem to be hit or miss. Black Eagle had a pretty disappointing transfer for example.

I'm a fan. Great packaging, transfers are good, and I love the selection of titles.

Considering they used the horrible Black Eagle transfer, I have no doubt it will be the same as the 101 Films set or the German set, only more expensive than importing those. The only good thing I can imagine is at least it'll be playable in region A players and maybe they'll add an extra or two.

It would be nice if they at least did a new transfer of the first film, I can deal with wax on the sequels.

This cool making of feature is on the DVD. Should be a part of the ablu-ray special features:

The DVD also has a whole bunch of tv spots along with the trailer.

French blu-ray of "Nemesis" looks awesome and absolutely destroys Krekel/101 Films versions. So there is some hope of unmolested transfer.

That's a big improvement! I wonder if that's the Krekel master without the DNR, or if they did their own scan?

Pretty sure the original is still up on YouTube if anyone wants to dabble in it. It's on my list, haven't had the chance yet.
