Default The Mask (1994)

The Blu-ray looks pretty bad, IMO. The movie could do with a 4K restoration, and most of the CGI still holds up well today and would benefit from the format. I wound't be surprised if the Blu-ray was from the same master as the 1999 DVD.

The need to do a decent cover art though, as those revisionist covers with the blue sky and clouds (at odds with the movie's aesthetic) just don't work.

It was a major hit. Really strange to see it in abandonware state.

I think the sequel killed any enthusiasm for the franchise, great movie though with Jim in his prime. Any of his peak 90s titles would be an immediate buy, eternal sunshine would be a UHD grail.

Wasn't Jim Carrey talking about a sequel recently?

If this ends up happening, I could see a 4K no question. But I doubt we'll see this for a while, otherwise.

I'll add my voice to the growing number of those who would like to see a 4k release of The Mask.

With regards to Carrey's statement regarding the possibility of a potential sequel, he says, "I don't want to do it just to do it. But I would only do it if it was some crazy visionary filmmaker. Sure."

So, I'm just gonna throw this out into the ether... Sam Raimi. Who better to capture that over-the-top, cartoony, looney tunes-esque vibe of the film? Plus, Sam would be a natural for blending in the horror aspects of the comic book while still balancing out the humor. Directing Bruce Campbell in the Evil Dead trilogy already laid the groundwork for this. In fact, it seems so obvious to me now I don't know why this isn't already a thing

Default The Mask 1994

I dont understand why you would want a PIPCO shirt. Sure FZ wore one on the Lumpy Gravy cover but, its not really the most inventive shirt. Am I missing something here?

If you've ever wanted to see how Jim Carrey would have played the Genie in Aladdin, watch this movie.

When this film was made, director Chuck Russell commissioned several scripts that were more faithful to the comic, but none of them balanced the horror and humor elements to his satisfaction. That's why he decided to do it as a somewhat dark comedy, and ultimately cast Jim in the main role.

Was literally watching this the other day. This is an absolute classic. A movie that can’t be replicated.

I do think Jim Carrey’s best movie is The Cable Guy however.

They'll release it if his Dr. Robotic in Sonic the Hedgehog trilogy become cult classics. Sonic the Hedgehog has been a underdog staple frachise since 1991. Lately, Sonic Frontiers surpassed rayman, Gex the gecko, earthworm jim, jak and dexter, Banjo and Kazooie, Conker Bad Fur Day in 3D technology and complexity. Sonic games have the same technology as PS5 Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart.
