A Simple Plan: Sam Raimi's director thriller film takes place during the cold, snowy winter, as the three head out to find the fox that made them veer off the road. They step through thick snow, and discover something in the woods they never should have found. Lots of warm house interior shots when not in the freezing snow.


The Shining: Mostly the scene where Wendy is about to make lunch for Danny, as they're watching the TV and the guy on the TV is talking to a lady about fresh baked donuts. In the background, the windows of the lodge show the snow is falling heavily outdoors, with them nice and warm inside the Overlook Lodge. What a nice place.

Another one could be A Christmas Story. Where the kid is outside, freezing with his tongue stuck to the metal frozen light pole, with Ralphie and the rest of the kids watching out the window from indoors, in the warmth of the classroom.

And then the end when it snows, and they're inside opening Christmas gifts next to the tree and nice and warm inside the home.

The French Connection is always a go-to movie for me on cold, winter nights. That scene where Popeye is standing on the street corner trying to stay warm, while Frog #1 is enjoying a lavish meal in a cozy restaurant perfectly captures the mood.

I also tend to watch Where Eagles Dare and Slap Shot during the winter months.
