I keep feeling bad about hijacking the main X-Files thread to talk about Millennium, so I thought I'd start a thread about it.
I never watched the show when it first aired. I remember watching the pilot and maybe a couple shows after it (and enjoying them well enough), but I just didn't have the time for it. The only TV I was watching regularly was the X-Files. I ended up buying the entire series of Millennium on DVD at least 5 years ago (for something like $50) but never got around to watching the show until now. My wife and I are huge X-Files fans and we're having a great time with it. Because a bunch of the same X-Files creators were behind it (Chris Carter, David Nutter, Glen Morgan, James Wong, Frank Spotnitz), it really feels like we're watching "new" old X-Files episodes, just with different characters. We need to have IMDB open virtually every time we watch an episode too, because there are SO many actors on this show that appeared in X-Files. It's such a hoot. An example: "Oh, he's somebody." - PAUSE DVD PLAYER - "He was...the guy in the X-files who had this virus and was on a bus with Mulder and he had this big disgusting boil on his face. He was also in Hard Core Logo." - CHECKS IMDB - "John Pyper-Ferguson. Wow, he played two different X-Files characters. Jeepers, he even played two different characters in Millennium. Funny." - UNPAUSE DVD PLAYER - We just finished the absolute BONKERS season two. I know that the popular opinion is to just stop there and not bother with season three, but I've already got the season three DVDs on my shelf. So it's happening eventually. I just need to drop my expectations. I'm on a bit of a Millennium high right now, so I started listening to the "The Time is Now" podcast and am trying to track down an affordable copy of the Back to Frank Black book. And I'm really curious about the note on the season 2 DVD that specifically mentions Morgan and Wong declined to be a part of the 30-minute retrospective. Were they salty about how everything played out? Any other Millennium fans out there? ![]() |

Yeah, I love the show. Even season three is good once it finds its footing. It’s just not a masterpiece like S1 and S2. As far as Morgan and Wong, they are on one of the podcasts and also are featured in a chapter in the BtFB book. I’m not sure why they weren’t in the DVD making of. I know they were mad at the Fox network for how they treated the DVD release of Space Above and Beyond, so it might be because they didn’t want to participate in anything for Fox at that time.

I received the boxset with all three seasons for my birthday years ago and I still have it as well. It is a shame that all three seasons feel like the same premise but from different minds; that is what happens when you have three different show-runners. Still, I love Lance Henriksen and I think this is the best work he's done.
The DVDs look fine (upscaled on my 47-inch TV), but a Blu-ray set would be most welcome. |

I still remember the hype this show got from Fox. It was billed as the new X-Files. It definitely wasn't that.
Kind of surprised it lasted three seasons. But it's hard for people now to remember the pre-2000 semi-hysteria around the millennium. Also Chris Carter pretty much owned Fox at that point. It was nice to see Lance get a chance to shine. Also my introduction to Terry O'Quinn. They were awesome together. |

It's been many years since I've seen this. I've watched the DVD's, but never owned my own copy. Decided the other day to purchase the DVD's. Should have them next week some time. That being said, I just finished cataloging the TV series in DVD Profiler and My Movies. Below is what the TV series looks like for me from My Movies for Windows Media Center. Included below are links to my online profiles for the TV series which mirror my local DVD Profiler database, the "Overview" section of each profile containing an "Episode List" and "Episode Guide" with images.

Once I have the DVD's I'll probably take screenshots working up my own episode images as the ones I found online, many aren't of the best quality. I purchased the seasons individually, so I still need a decent back cover image for the TV series as a whole. If anyone owns the boxset, i.e. "Millennium: The Complete DVD Collection" and is willing to scan the back portion I'd be forever grateful. A raw scan at 600dpi would be more than sufficient. In any event, looking forward to watching this again and perhaps one day the TV series will be available in High Definition and preferably on Blu-ray. ![]() Last edited by AmishParadise; 09-05-2021 at 07:18 PM. |

I'd like to revisit this show sometime. I remember really digging the first season, when it was dark and gritty and violent. But I seem to recall they started lightening it up in the second season due to complaints about its content, and then by the third season it felt too much like an X-Files clone.

Much like the X-Files, sometimes Millennium would do a stand alone episode that would be amazing, in the midst of a less than amazing season. |

Millennium is one of my favorite shows as well, especially season 2 stories: The Curse of Frank Black, Luminary, & Somehow, Satan Got Behind Me to name just a few. It took too long for Fox to put Millennium out on dvd but worth the wait.

I bought all three seasons on ebay years ago. I thought I was getting the individual seasons, but I ended up receiving the seasons 1 and 2 boxsets and the season 3 slim cases from the Complete Collection (which in my opinion look like bootlegs):
Not having the season 3 boxset makes my DVD shelf look inelegant, but it I'm happy to own the entire series at least. It's too bad though because the season 3 boxset artwork is really striking: ![]() |

I watched the show when it started out, but I drifted away from it before the season ended.
I do remember yelling at Frank through the TV when seeing that Megan Gallagher was his wife "No! Don't trust her!" (Nowhere Man was a great series). After rewatching a season of X Files earlier this year, I actually started to think about Millennium again. Decided to buy the 1st season dvds (although it will be a while before I watch them) and check out the show again. |

Last night I grabbed season seven of The X-Files from my brother's complete series box set and watched the crossover since I hadn't seen it in so long. A bit of a disappointment as a crossover but still a fun episode, and now I'm really in the mood to revisit Millennium. |

Can we agree that Lucy Butler was just a chilling character?
Frank Black never stood a chance against such a formidable antagonist, but he took the fight upon himself anyway. Same. I got my old UK dvd boxsets of the entire series. ![]() |
