I watched True Lies today via my old DVD. It certainly looked like a DVD on my 4K TV through my 4K player. But even with the shoddy DVD quality there were many instances where I noticed Arnold's stunt double. It wasn't just from my keen eye, it was blatantly obviously. Like over the top obvious. Like how did this make it into the movie obvious. Even with the main badguy there were quite a few points where I could easily pick out his stunt double. For such a big budget movie, by James Cameron no less, I'm shocked at how easy it was to see them. Especially when most of the other effects were amazing. It got to a point where I even said "My God, this is kinda bad."
Now imagine how this would look in 4K. It would almost turn those scenes into full blown spoofs. The only way to fix it is for James Cameron to go back in and touch up the shots with CGI (like he did with the obvious stunt double in T2). So perhaps that's why the studio isn't wanting to pull the trigger on a BD or 4K release. ![]() (Otherwise the movie is awesome and totally deserves a 4K release) |
