![]() Thanks to Hats Off Entertainment, I decided to check out this movie which I had never heard of before and did so especially because of John Candy, but honestly much as I tried to enjoy it I just didn't find it very funny or entertaining. John Candy sure as heck did try his best to salvage this movie though there's only so much he could have done. This is just my opinion, obviously. Moreover, I read on IMDb that there were others who thoroughly enjoyed it and I'm happy for them. ![]() Hope you enjoy it if you ever watch it. |

I haven't seen Delirious so I don't know how good/bad it is, however I did feel similarly to you but for his final movie Wagons East. Sometimes that John Candy magic can't always make a movie great. Although I can't be too harsh on that film since IIRC he died while filming so they ended up using a scene he had filmed twice to finish the movie. I suppose if he had gotten to finish the movie then it might've been better edited and paced.

Candy was in a lot of mediocre product that I ended up seeing just because I was a fan of his going back to his SCTV days. It took me a long time to get around to Wagons East and I've only seen it once. I could not enjoy it, knowing that Candy died during filming, it casts a pall over the whole thing and it's obvious what scenes were filmed after his death. |

Just a few months prior to this movie's release, another soap-based comedy was in theaters: Soapdish. Now THAT is a funny movie. |

I'm tempted to buy the OOP Kino Lorber release. I'm one of those people that really enjoys this movie. It's one of those comedies that are not funny 100% of the time, but averages out to a pleasant experience (for me) that I like to revisit. I feel like it's subject matter captures something very specific about the era.
Very similar in that regard to Spies Like Us. |

I never saw John Candy's Delirious, but it's on Tubi TV, so I'll check it out. I didn't realize it was linked to Prince's song, Delirious.

I did get to watch Delirious with John Candy. It was interesting. The funniest line was about the refrigerator I thought. Not a direct comedy, but more of a concept film with some humor, kind of like how Groundhog Day is a concept film of repeating the same day over and over. In this film, he enters the hospital of the Soap Opera that he is the writer for, but has to deal with his script constantly being re-written or characters being removed/changed. An interesting movie with a light-hearted mood to the characters. Nothing serious.
Delirious in 1991 was only 3 years about before John Candy's last film role in 1994's Wagon's East. I saw a documentary that suggested he was still using drugs when he died of a heart attack, but not sure, combined with binge eating during John Candy's untimely death at 43 years old, March 4, 1994, exactly 30 years ago this month 2024. |

John Candy is one of the actors who passed away in the last 35 years that I miss the most.

This was available at my local music/movie store so I scooped it up. I enjoyed it. It's not a great movie and it was nice to see Candy in a romantic leading role, but I thought the supporting cast actually stole the movie - Raymond Burr, Charles Rocket, David Rasche and especially Dylan Baker were hilarious. Soapdish is definitely funnier but I thought this had some clever writing. It was just a bit too inconsistent.
It would be nice if this got reissued with proper bonus features. The trailer features some stuff not in the film so there must be some deleted scenes lying around somewhere. |

On the Uncle Buck 4K/blu-ray release Kino it has a bunch of Candy and Hughes trailers with Delirious being one. Usually Kino doesn’t put on trailers of out of print titles. I was curious if this was getting reissued by Kino?
