Everyone is wondering if it will be better than the US version, which is supposed to be horrendous.

Looking forward to seeing how this goes. I believe the US is *just* the extended version.

I have my eye on this release as well, if it actually has the Directors cut, count me in!

It's definitely NOT the director's cut.

It will be the extended cut.

You'll probably end up being right, however without seeing the finished product, I'm still holding out hope. I mean why call it a "special edition" with fancy packaging if it's basically the same release as the US one.

So this is well after the fact, but I did pick this one up. If I knew how to do screen captures, I would. From what I can tell, the 2 cuts are different transfers. The shorter, theatrical version is sharper and has kind of a different appearance overall. The extended version looks lower res, like upconverted SD. It's possible the extended version was edited for home video before its original release, so they don't have much of an HD master to go from. The theatrical could have been transferred from a print source, which would explain the clarity. I'm not saying the difference is drastic, but it's noticeable. There are no extras, just the 2 cuts with DTS-HD MA 5.1

The 45 minutes longer Director's Cut will be shown at the Berlinale in Germany (5 - 15 February 2015).
Maybe a Blu-ray release of the Director's Cut will see the light of day in 2015...

It looks like Studiocanal will issue the Director's Cut on Blu-ray in Germany on January 14th, 2016:

The specs haven't been added yet, but Studiocanal have added the disc to their site:

I ordered it, but haven't received it yet. Someone uploaded the back cover to Amazon.de and it says Region B. The disc also has both the theatrical version and director's cut.

Bought the paramount release and it doesn’t include the directors cut, am very disappointed

There's 3 cuts, and I think someone made a mistake saying it contains the 106 minute cut with over 40 minutes of replaced footage.

I can see the mistake on bluray-disc.de and on this site.
You should fix it so that other people won't make the same mistake.
