Some great films in there. Not sure when they made the name change.

HMV have relisted some titles for August including the Safdies' Heaven Knows What and Laurent Bouhnik's Q

Going by the database they have not released anything in the past 5 years.

I think they're still in business or at least someone is paying bills as the copyright on their sites say 2025 and they're on Twitter still https://x.com/ax1ent

And as I said, there's re-releases scheduled for August. Some of them are quite rare too. I think they've always had low print runs and the resale prices have shot up.

I have 9 of there releases I think including the Greenaways.

It loooks like the name change happened 2017:

AX1 Film Holdings from Axiom Film Holdings. Also AX1 Film & Media Assets and AX1 Entertainment (which is the name on the website).

Looks like they had some paperwork problems 2019 but it's been resolved.

It did get a DVD from Axiom and there was some evidence of a Blu-ray but I never seen it anywhere personally.

I think it's a case like Tartan where they are no longer a active distributor but the owner of the company still occassionally presses discs up for select titles they will own from time to time.

I had a look at Q (called 'Desire' in the US and censored by around 2mins) and thought it was poorly made. There is some acting but technically it's just a badly made film.

As for the explicit content there's a few scenes but nothing that's not already gotten through the England-based censor and in fact more explicit stuff has passed.


Best to stream before you buy.
