Default Greatest Movie Scenes of All Time

Post clips or describe moments on what you consider some of the greatest movie scenes of all-time.

Hopefully some of these scenes that are posted from movies you haven't seen might be the kick to actually watch that specific film.

I shall start -

Blue Valentine is a film that only came out in December yet I consider this scene perfection in every detail. I have probably listened to this about 400 times now and how the scene plays into the film is just great. This is definitely one of my favorite movie scenes from any film that I've seen in my young life.

Almost Famous - Just WATCH. Movie magic. This may just be the favorite movie scenes of ALL-TIME! I consider the film itself in my personal top 5 movie list.

Blue Velvet - Just yes. YES. OMG HA. Dennis Hopper R.I.P. Only Lynch could somehow make this scene work and make it quite brilliant.

Two of my absolute favorite scenes of all time. I have watched these more times than I can count.

Blade Runner - I'm sure anyone who has seen this movie knows just how amazing and awe inspiring Roy Batty's speech at the end of the movie is. I won't spoil the context for anyone who hasn't seen it, but suffice to say, Blade Runner is one of, if not the, greatest sci-fi movies ever made.

Batman Begins - This was the first movie to really capture what Batman is to me. Take note my idea of who and what Batman is was influenced growing up by comics like Batman: Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, Batman: The Long Halloween, Batman: The Animated Series, and several other comic books and cartoons and whatnot. When I saw this movie, I found a director who truly understood Batman, turning him into a human character instead of just something flashy. The specific scene that absolutely nailed what I wanted from a Batman movie was the very end when Batman had Ra's Al Ghul pinned in the train. Ra's looks up at him and asks, "Have you finally found the will do what is necessary?" Batman looks at him and says, "I won't kill you," blows open the back of the train, "But I don't have to save you." and goes shooting out the back of the train. I swear to god I almost had a heart attack I got so pumped the first time I saw that. It still gives me chills when I watch it.

On that note, that's one reason the end of The Dark Knight drives me a little nuts. Don't get me wrong, I still love The Dark Knight, but Batman KILLS Two-Face!!! I understand in that situation he didn't have much of a choice, but it still drives me nuts! He kills him and doesn't say crap about it! It's just like, Yeah, he's dead. I need Batman to be morally ripped to pieces by what he had to do there! Not only did he kill someone, he killed someone who was formerly an ally! I hope The Dark Knight Rises makes some very specific connections to Bruce Wayne's mental state after the events of the previous movie and doesn't just pick up with Batman on the run as if nothing ever happened. He needs to be a wreck after fighting Joker, losing Rachel, having to pretend he killed the cops, and having to kill Harvey Dent. I need me some crazy Batman!!!

On another note, can't wait to see Bane!!!

"All time" (and then post movies from the last fifteen years), huh?

Ooo-kay--If it's "Greatest Movie Scenes" you want, and you really mean "All time", let's keep it short and su-weet:
(I don't care how many times TCM plays it, it just hasn't gotten old yet. )

And now I hope we've learned something about the newbie peril of "What's, Like the Greatest Stuff Ever?" posts, and why they're doomed by their own vagueness.

Easy one--GF1 when Michael tells the Turk "What I want...what's most important to me is that I have a guarantee there will be no more attempts on my father's life." Goes to bathroom. And...

Got old the moment the clip hit 1946 without a single clip from an animated film.

Both of the continuous shots in Children of Men are some of the most amazing scenes ever filmed.

The final scene in Park Chan-Wook's Thirst. Also, the hallway fight scene in Oldboy.

Absolutely agree with the Almost Famous pick.

"I drink your milkshake!" I know that horse got beaten to death but that scene was perfect for me.

Finally, hell yes to the tGtBtU finale.

Off the top of my head, my favourite scenes would have to the ending of Gallipoli and in Little Miss Sunshine Olive's dance scene and the last time they push the car. Zero-gravity fight scene in Inception is pretty awesome as well.

and finally - I couldn't find it on Youtube - the scene in Field of Dreams . . . "People will come, Ray" . . . and then it ends with "Hey Dad, wanna have a catch?"

Priceless.
