Default Question about EAN / UPC Barcodes

Hi, has anyone heard of a movie having the same EAN / UPC but different region codes?

There is a German Blu-ray I'm wanting to buy on ebay. I've seen pictures of the blu-ray rear cover on amazon.de and filmundo.de and chatted with some one that owns the Blu-ray, who has confirmed that it does have the ABC logo. Amazon.de also lists the release as "All Region." However, the ebay seller states that his copy is only region B despite listing the product with the same EAN included on this forum, amazon.de and as pictured on the rear cover. I tried questioning this and sending a picture, but he refused to provide photo of actual item and I suspect information is getting lost in google translate.

You're probably wondering why I don't just buy it off amazon.de. Unfortunately it's OOP as well as the US regular DVD.

So just to reiterate is it possible that two different releases with different regions have the same EAN/UPC or would they have to have different ones?

Thanks

Question Similar question

Yeah have a very similar question, tried googling, but no luck... I would only extend the question if languages and/or region locking can be different on same UPC - EAN/JAN. Saw shops showing same EAN, but ones displaying all languages and region free others showing none...

EAN/UPC barcode systems have nothing to do with regions.

The seller is just covering his arse and may have no way to test the A and C region.

What is the title? Why aren't you region free yet? Region free players have been around for over 25 years.

Aaahhh understood, sorry i'm noob in blu-ray and was looking around in the shops. Some display all info while in sites like Amazon region and language are sometimes not displayed. Thought maybe I could use the EAN/UPC from one shop to confirm languages + regions in others shops.
