The Meteor Man - Olive & One Gate

Just a heads up for anyone who is a fan of this fun superhero movie from the 90s.

The Olive blu-ray is out of print and hard to find. There is a brand new German release that I imported as the Olive release had issues that now seemed resolved.

The Olive release had a stereo track that was in fact not stereo but mono. The new One Gate german blu-ray has both English and German 5.1 surround proper.

Also, the Olive release had the framing slightly off with the picture that is now correct on the One Gate.

I was able to get the One Gate german blu-ray off of Amazon, but you can also find it on Ebay.

Forgot to add, it appears to be the same master. So the only improvements are proper 5.1 surround and correct picture framing. Worth it, IMHO!

Meteor Man was Dolby Stereo, so if the BD is 5.1 you're still not getting OG audio, even if it is an improvement on a mono downmix.

All I can say is with the Olive release, the only sound coming out was from my center speaker and it sounded mono to me.

With the new One Gate release, I am getting proper full surround out of all the speakers and reads as 5.1 from my Denon receiver app. It is a significant improvement in sound over the Olive release.

I don't have a sound system set up, it's just my TV, so I would be cool with a Mono/Stereo option.
