Hello there! Just thought I'd message here instead of creating an entirely new thread. I have been trying to get in touch with someone about a username change, but the moment I sent them a message in October, they haven't been active since then. I am wondering if I could request that my username be changed to TwelvePack96? I made the dumb decision of having my current username the same name as my WiFi network, so I don't want to risk my location being leaked. I promise I would never ask for this if it wasn't important. I'd appreciate any help!

I'm also curious about this. I'd like to change my username in order to avoid any potential issues with it being the same name I use to publish movie reviews to LetterBoxd and YouTube. I never would have imagined to would be an issue (especially with KL Insider and others being prominent examples of actual businesses using their brands in their usernames), but thankfully someone shared details of the terms and conditions with me when I had a question about signatures that didn't get answered.

I just want to be as pro-active as I can in doing my part to adhere to the T&Cs to the letter. It's not my intention to use my forum presence as "promotion" and I want to make sure I don't lose access to my saved collection on a weird technicality.

I think you should be fine as long as you don't post links to your LetterBoxd and YouTube.

I hope this is okay to ask, but I've always wondered: Why the rule against Letterboxd?

I personally don't consider the reviews on LB to be competition to the reviews here.

"omg leo so based" is not exactly scintillating discourse.

(Okay, I made that up, but that is the kind of review that makes up a good chunk of Letterboxd, lol.)

I was just wondering if it was possible to change my username and am annoyed to find that it isn't, barring exceptional circumstances.

I was hoping I could change mine to something simpler, and also for privacy reasons.

Agreed. It really should be a simple thing to change one's username. When I made my account (over 15 years ago!) i wasn't as concerned with privacy as I am now. Who can I reach out to about this? What qualifies as "exceptional circumstances?"
