Default Finally took the plunge and went hog wild

Hi all!

Like many other people, I spent the past year and a half sitting on the fence. I felt since the beginning that Blu-ray was superior to HD-DVD but was afraid of choosing the wrong side in the format war.

Over the Christmas holiday my mom accidentally bought Hairspray on Blu-ray. Of course, instead of going back to the store and seeing if they could exchange the open package for the DVD version, my parents went out and got the Samsung BD-P1400 when Costco had it on sale for $279. They even bought the display model since it was sold out and it was the final day of the promotion.

Wow, as soon as I watched the opening sequence and saw the individual strands of hair on Tracy's head, I knew I had to get me one of these! We ended up renting a bunch of Blu-ray movies and watching them most of the week between Christmas and New Year's. Of course, I recommended that they stick to renting movies until a clear winner emerged in the format war.

Well, that day came sooner than I expected. As soon as Warner made its big announcement, the deal was sealed for me. Plus I had just broken up with someone and it was the perfect time to engage in retail therapy. I bought the revered DMP-BD30K and rented my first movie, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, and even on my old Toshiba 720p it looked stunning. I've since moved that old TV to the bedroom. One plasma, one receiver, one subwoofer and 7 speakers later, I am in Blu-ray heaven!
