Color grading is excellent without any lab tints and the encoding is good but not spectacular as a couple of exteriors they shot with finer-grained stock are dangerously close to collapsing due to lower bitrates (the film is often in the 30-40 MB range) and mild artifacts are visible, but no need to worry, this is fine work and can definitely be enjoyed. I checked in DV and HDR10 and couldn’t see a difference, which I take as a positive. Chroma noise is also not a problem.

English subtitles are available and the sound is very forceful, dynamic and nicely balanced. The discs are in a digipack which is housed in a slip case with artwork front and back. Technical data are all on a leaflet.

Definitely recommended

I can echo almost exactly same for this release as well. Same beautiful restoration, grade, sound, pro and contra regarding the encode, fine-grained and sharp cinematography, no DNR, English subtitles for the feature and the same packaging.

The only real difference is that the bitrates occasionally drop even lower into the 20s with exteriors. Just a few more would’ve been what the encode needed to turn out perfect. Again, I don’t think it’s that big of a problem in motion but trained eyes will spot what I’m talking about.

Otherwise, another great release from Gaumont and hopefully they’ll continue with UHDs.
