I hope they have the villains from the Trench but that novel can't fill a whole movie. Hoping they include the aquarium in the plot though and some if the scenes from the first book that were left out of the movie.

The first film was a bag of wank. They actually managed to make a film around a megaladon dull. Should have been R rated and had some fun with it. But instead we got a megaladon slowly towing a barge with some kids on it.

I won't buy the disc, but I was mildly entertained by Meg 2, and Statham was good as usual. While I very much prefer the original, this wasn't a total loss, and the final act kind of saved it while at the same time marring the more serious tone of the first. The Meg franchise is now a comedy/horror/action/stealth/dinosaur/shark style movie.

If there is a 3rd, I hope it gets more grounded like the first. It's in Syfy movie territory at the moment like Sharknado or something very goofy. Fun but tough to take more serious.

If there is a 3D disc, and on sale, I'll consider it. The 3D is decent to good with mostly medium layering and one really strong pop out.

Would you say it was less serious than Cocaine Bear?

How are the Statham fights? I still maintain that he, and Luc Besson, put some of the finest fight choreography to western cinema, and I'm hoping that some director out there will remember this and cast Statham where he can show that off again, if only to cash in on the John Wick trend.

Sweet! People forget that the books are a franchise - there's like 5-6 novels, so why not another film? It did make a lot of money.

First was very average with very little suspense. But I'm always happy to see more Jason Statham films

I think i liked the idea of a "Mega Jaws with Statham" pitch for the first movie and would have preferred they keep that going rather than some supernatural twist. I think a "another Meg" escaped and went somewhere else and stayed under the radar and now they hunt it has more potential. Still seems difficult to see how they're gonna top the first for action considering how it was all presented.

Probably the latter - I've only ever read the first novel.
