The Killer Inside Me Canadian Release only 1080i

Can someone confirm that the Canadian version of The Killer Inside Me is only 1080i. Picked it up at HMV for $13 and I noticed that the back cover says that the picture is only 1080i. Is this true or is it a mistake? Thanks for the help.

hmm, I bought it at Rogers and didn't even think to look. Will take a look at it tonight.

I noticed that too when i was on my home with it. It was cheap enough so I didn't mind. Poped it in, checked the "info" on my 55' Bravia, it showed 1080/24p so it is 1080p, not 1080i... why so many canadian Blu's mess this up I will never know...

Alliance has the rights to release some movies on Bluray exclusively in Canada. They have no means to create their own transfers, so they just use the existing quick transfers that were made for HDTV broadcast.

PROS:

We sometimes get movies on bluray long before there is an official US studio release.

These discs are very cheap. They are usually less than 15$ on release day, and drop to 9.99 very quickly.

CONS:

Video is sometimes 1080i, cropped, or low quality, but not always. Some Alliance canadian exclusive releases are 1080p, and look very good, like From Dusk Til Dawn.

Once an official US release is made by the film owners, Alliance updates the disc with the official one, and the old ones disappear in the bargain bin, like Se7en recently.

I know alliance either releases broadcast hd versions, or repackages the oar versions. But "Killer" is an E1 release, not alliance, and they too, for whatever reason, incorrectly state the interlace/progressive. "Killer" and "good bad, and the wierd" for example
