United Kingdom The Persuaders!

I have heard the news that Network is issuing The Persuaders! series on blu ray in 2012!!

The huge bummer for me is that I'm here in the US and Network is locking the series to Region B.

I'm thinking about a region free blu ray player. Not sure though.

I suppose I could wait and hope that A&E or another US video company will pick up the series for release in the US.

However, A&E did not have more than a commentary or 2 for the series when they issued it on DVD here. I ended up importing the Network DVD set of The Persuaders! to get all of the fine extras.

So very exciting news, but I'm a bit bummed about it too. Maybe something will change before the series is released on blu ray this year though.

Sharp makes a blu ray player here in the US that will play Regions A, B and C. In addition Oppo's BDP-93 can also play other regions as well.

Tremendous news, but hopefully this set will have LPCM 2.0 audio and not lossy Dolby Digital 2.0. It always bothers me that Network do beautiful picture restorations but then short change the audio. I know it seems a minor complaint, but it's the principle of the format, really

£59.99 (£49.99 sans VAT) on Amazon right now:

To be able to play the region B series here in the US, one would have to get a blu ray player from Oppo and a mod kit then???

Thanks!

I think there are Oppo players available that are region free out of the box! You could also do a Google search for players that are able to have their regions changed via a code.

Massively happy that this is coming to blu - i love this show!

Not directly from Oppo you won't. You will have to buy the player from places that mod them or with a DIY mod-kit that is available to purchase online separately.

That said, it isn't completely out of the question that the UK set is region-free so this may not be an issue.

If you've got £80 spare, will be in London on 6th Sept, and have a kipper tie, a jacket with huge lapels, a paisley shirt or a polyester safari suit http://www.networkdvd.net/product_in...oducts_id=1416

The specs on Networks page show it will be locked to region B. I emailed Network as well and they confirmed this too.

Huge bummer.

If A&E Home Video does do a Region A release of the series, I'm guessing they will drop all of the extras. Just like they did for the DVD sets. I ended up importing the Network DVD set of The Persuaders.

Anyway... I hope I'm wrong.

A&E Home Video is impossible to reach. Wish I had a decent contact or that they would care a bit more about following up with their customers. I sent them an email message, but they do not respond.

Just go on ebay. There are several multi-region players available. I bought one that cost me $150, shipping included, and it works perfectly for all regions of DVD and Blu-ray. Make sure it will convert PAL to NTSC though for DVD and Blu-ray special features that happen to be formatted in PAL.

That may not be necessarily true since their website states both Robin of Sherwood and Space 1999 being region B yet the BD discs in these sets are region free. Any e-mail confirmation may be equally flawed in that regard as well.

Are you picking up a region free blu ray player for the set?

First let's see if we get a US release through A&E or if the discs are region free. Now bring on The Avengers dammit!

Brilliant - thanks for posting the pictures! I was hoping to be there but a couple of things prevented me from making the trip.

How's the blu ray set itself? I got an email from Amazon saying that mine had shipped so it should be here any day now!
