Arrow Value Electronics 2024 TV ShootoutŪ Evaluation event

We just set the date for our annual TV ShootoutŪ Evaluation event to be Saturday, August 3 and Sunday August 4, 2024.

This will be our 21st annual TV Shootout Evaluation event.

I wanted to explain why we use all 65" screen sized TVs.

First is that all of the brands and models come in 65".

Second if we used larger screen sizes the judges would not be able to see the 32" Mastering Monitor and all of the TVs together at the same time. So if we used larger screen sizes the judges would not be able to compare and evaluation all of the TVs against each other easily.

However as we have done on several TV Shootout years I will again this year set-up Sony's 85" BRAVIA 9 QD MiniLED TV butt next to LG's 83" G4, LG's 86" QNED90T and a couple other 77" - 83" & 85" TVs in a separate dedicated room with very low ambient light for everyone to see them next to each other.

Also this year we'll have two 4K TV Shootouts, one for OLED TV and one for MiniLED TVs. When both 4K events are completed and we crown the winners we'll then put the winner of the OLED and the winner of the MiniLED butt next to each other for the judges and all attendees and the YouTubers to see how they compare against each other.

I have a few more updates that I'll share as I am allowed. I'll also post our press release once it's released to the media. So stay tuned to this thread for updates.

2 wishes for the Shootout:

1) Compare Dolby Vision Performance:
Many shows are now played in Dolby Vision and we want to see the Performance of Dolby Vision.

2) Panasonic OLED should be in the Shootout. It isn't that difficult to import the Panasonic, Panasonic is sold in many parts of the World so buyers in Europe have something to compare

We're in the final stage of setting up for this Saturday-Sunday's, August 3-4, 2024 TV ShootoutŪ Evaluation event and we just connected our OTA antenna that is connected to our ZapperBox M2 ATSC 3.0 NextGen TV DVR to the HDMI 2.1 48Gbps Matrix Switch.

So the Zapper Box M2 will be included as one of our video sources for all of the judges to see the new ATSC 3.0 content across all of the OLED and MiniLED TVs competing in the event.

Robert, while the R.volution PlayerOne 8K sounds like a ideal media player that supports optical disc images, even 4K Blu-ray. It sounds like one has to use some type of third party ripping software to break the encryption off the disc in order to play it in the hard drive based R.volution PlayerOne 8K media player. It is my understanding that breaking the encryption off optical discs with a third party software is not legal. But if one chooses to do so this media player will play the optical disc images just fine with menus once they are ripped and the encryption is removed.

Quote

“Display the Blu-ray and 4K UHD menus and get access to additional content (director's cuts, theatrical versions, bonus extras, bookmarks, etc.) This feature is compatible with both ISO and BDMV (Blu-ray and 4K UHD Blu-ray). Or, if you do not want to display menus, you can start a movie immediately without trailers or warnings. The seamless branching is also perfectly supported for perfect gapless playback on director cut editions. Support for DVD menus is planned for a future update.”

The Blu-ray Disc Association should have used the studio authorized managed copy system for products like this. At least Kaleidescape is 100% studio authorized and allows a external BD-ROM drive to be connected to convert ones optical disc collection to a Blu-ray download version of the movie.

We were able to get some of the manufacturers to take advantage of the publicity they will all get at our TV ShootoutŪ with some very nice promotional sales on the TVs we included in the event.

In my opening remarks when I'll be presenting all of the TVs that are competing in the event I will also talk about the promotional sale prices. You can watch my live presentation on Stop the FOMO's YouTube Channel this Saturday, August 3rd. sometime between 9:30am - 10:00am.

I thought there initially was not going to be any Livestreams of the event this year?

I wish I could be there, but at least I can watch the 2024 TV Shootout on one of the TVs featured in it. I have had my new 85" Bravia 9 for 9 days now and I am enjoying it immensely.

Thank you again for Robert for all of your help with my purchase!

Due to copyright limitations we are not live streaming all of the event. But much of the TV ShootoutŪ will be broadcast live.

All of the event will be reordered and just after the event ends several edited versions of the event will be also be available on several YouTube Channels.

Here's the link to the 1st in a series of YouTube videos that will actually go live every evening tonight.
