Sony Pictures Rv (2006)

Is there any difference between these two releases? Blu-Ray.com lists the new version having a MPEG-4 Encoding whereas the original version is MPEG-2

Dunno for sure. I bought the older copy because I like the left side interior art on earlier Sony releases.

Video is mpeg2 around 18Mbps, yet even so, it still looks okay-good for a bluray still even when zoomed in to 1.78 from 6ft away from 65". Very light grain or maybe ever so light DNR possible, or ultra good film stock in 2006.

Switch Audio to track 2, if needed for lossless. It is 4.6 Mbps. Upscales to Atmos great! Listen closely at 48:25.

Imdb says 35mm, 4K DI, if that's accurate. It's not available in 4k on digital though.. And during special features at 13:20, the RV windows had blue screens, so probably not a 4K DI if from 2006.

Curious as well of the newer release regarding if it does use MPEG-4. Not sure if it'd make much of a noticeable/perceivable upgrade in motion.

isn't Track 1 better as it is LPCM 5.1 compared to Dolby Digital 5.1? Where LPCM is lossless?

Usually MPEG-4 has better encoding if it is done right and does make a noticeable difference in motion, sharper and stuff

Hopefully there might be a 4K Blu-Ray, considering the film is turning 20 years old soon and is due for a nice upgrade, maybe Dolby Atmos. Men in Black has a nice transfer / sound mix so hopefully whenever it releases it'll be great

Also Christmas with the Kranks since that one deserves a 4K treatment (add the audio commentary that wasn't on the previous releases).

And maybe, Are We There Yet? since that one was previously released by Mill Creek and it did got a recent UK Blu-Ray release by Mediumrare Entertainment. The Mill Creek Blu-Ray is barebones while the Mediumrare Entertainment release has special features (that was also on the 2005 and 2007 DVD releases), Mill Creek has 2.0 audio while I think Mediumrare on the other hand might have lossless DTS 5.1 audio track (i'm not 100% confirmed about it by doing some research).
