Sounds promising and no doubt the 3D will be oustanding along with the 3D restoration by 3-D Film Archive. Cool.

Probably a long shot given her age, but I hope they can get some involvement with Hughes herself. Sometimes Kino has been able to score interviews with actors/directors/others of advanced ages (I was hoping they would score one with the still active John Astin for the Night Gallery season sets), and it isn't too often a co-star from that long ago is still around.

If it happens by Q1 2024 I'll be happy -- and happier still if within Q4 2023. I'm just still so pleasantly surprised that it's happening, given what seemed to be an intractable music-rights hurdle.

It's worth noting again that this rounds out the total lineup of B/W "noir" (using the term liberally I guess) classic-3D titles, which includes most recently The Diamond Wizard (via Kino Lorber) and I, The Jury (via ClassicFlix). The initial classic 3D B/W noir release, both in theaters in 1953 and on blu ray, was Man in the Dark (via Twilight Time).

The Twilight Time 3D blu ray is the only one among these titles with which 3D Film Archive had no involvement; Sony/Columbia provided a solid 3D master to Twilight Time which simply issued it. That release was in January 2014, on the heels of the 3D blu ray issuances from WB .... and I frankly doubt that, were it not for 3DFA, we would have seen many -- if any -- classic-3D blu rays since. We can certainly thank them for these three most recent 3d B/W noir blus.

I’m foaming at the mouth in anticipation for this one. What a score by the 3DFA, especially in light of the daunting music rights issue. Amazing that we’ll eventually get to have all four classic 3D noirs for our very own. Here’s hoping the extremely fun and sadly underrated MAN IN THE DARK can somehow get a re-release for those that missed it the first time ‘round. It goes for crazy money nowadays!

In 3D noir heaven. Glad 3DBRs don’t disintegrate like vinyl and videotape or my Man in the Dark would be worn out by now.

Good point about other formats being more vulnerable to breaking down over time. Even players can break down, like VHS or cassette players that rely on rubberbands to turn the cassettes in some cases, where the band becomes brittle and snaps, rendering the machine unable to play.

Blu Ray 3D definitely being a great format at this time.

Yep, I specifically stuck to the B/W noirs in my little notation because that lineup (thanks to 3DFA) is now complete.

I'm a happy owner of the Panamint disc of Inferno (as great as Rhonda Fleming looked in B/W, she looks even better in color) and it too is a fun noir.

But I opted not to include color 3D noirs because there are two gaping unavailabilities from a certain studio.... and I figured I'd take a break from going there on this happy occasion...

Didn’t mean to dispute your comment at all After all, “noir” isn’t a concrete classification like “anaglyph” or “polarized.” Some films of the era are very noir and others are noiry.
