The development of phosphorescent blue OLED emitters (PhOLED) promises to greatly enhance the prospects for OLED displays by allowing for improved brightness efficiency and/or lower cost. Early this year, Universal Display Corporation (UDC) announced that they expect to achieve target performance for commercialization of blue PhOLED by the end of the year and expect commercial sales of the material by 2024.

Man stop the fomo you say it’s coming in 2023 now I hear 2024. I know your not him just venting. I’m upset because it improves oled and it will make it cheaper.

Your question pertains to Samsung whose track record for getting new affordable tech out stinks. Their 75" MicroLED is almost 2 years late and there is no end in sight for when it will arrive.

Changing a power supply so they can get more brightness is a lot simplier than adding quantum dots or changing the chemistry of the blue emitter for OLED. That takes years before commerical products are released.
