Arrow Sho Kosugi on Blu-ray

It's a Kosugivolution! At last...

Germans got two stellar BD releases for both "Enter the Ninja" and "Revenge of the Ninja". The German "Ninja III" BD release was a crappy upconverted DVD mess.

SHOUT! Factory is producing a proper BD release for "Ninja III" anyway.

"Pray for Death" is already available on MGMHD channel.

http://www.mgmchannel.com/netherland...for-death.html

A BD release for "Black Eagle" is gonna be available in the future to come from Moonstone Entertainment.

http://variety.com/interstitial/?ref...-1118065865%2F

Rejoice!

Love me some Kosugi! Can't wait to pick up Ninja III next month. I hope Shout Factory can acquire Revenge of the Ninja (my favorite of his) someday.

Never heard of this company moonstone. They sound interesting. I love Lionheart and have been clamoring for an HD blu of Black Eagle for quite a while...hopefully their releases are region free.
I guess I didn't fully get this from the article, but will these be released in Europe Australia or Region 1? Is this an American company etc?

Hope Shout will put out an uncut version of Pray for Death. I'm not bothered about the rest; the current DVDs will suffice.

I do too. I heard the version playing on MGM HD is censored. I've only seen the uncut version, is there a lot missing?

From IMDB:

"The version that aired on MGM HD has at least 5 cuts, i've compared that version with the uncut VHS from Norway.
The brutal beating of the old man and the beating/rape/stabbing of the wife was completely missing.
It also misses bullet impacts and a close up of a dead man in the restaurant and a knifestab in limehouse's leg as he is showed onto the wood splitter."

sent them an e-mail inquiring about the releases. We will see if I get a response. I will let all of you know what they say.
I'm fearing that these are international bluray as I think Universal still has rights to those films...at least Lionheart and Double Dragon.

Their website did not have a typical contact us generic e-mail, instead it had e-mails for president, CEO etc. I sent an e-mail to a few of those people and got a response from the CEO

"Dear Mark
We hope to eventually reissue in HD worldwide. Too early for more details.
Best regard Etchie "

So the good news is that these should be released here too. I'm assuming that would most likely mean that Universal no longer holds the rights to the Imperial titles they released. To be fair, Universal's website doesn't list Double Dragon anymore..they just list Lionheart.

Wonder when they are going to come out?

Nobody's mentioned 9 Deaths of the Ninja yet?!

Outrageous! Sho's best film for me. Well, certainly the most entertaining anyway . Definitely the one with the most laughs!

It's his comedy movie. Good, but not memorable.

I've just read that THE MASTER TV series has been shot on 35 mm format. Now I dream a BD release for this iconic series where Sho starred on 5 episodes (his Ninja costume was terrific).

Me and my brothers used to love The Master with Lee Van Cleef! I kept mentioning Lee Van Cleef in threads for the new film 'The Master' - noone seemed to get it of course

Actually Id say its his James Bond movie. And it is very memorable - maybe not for the reasons that they intended! Sho does think hes James Bond in this one - watch the intro credits...you think Bond is cheesy? This is beyond that!

The bad guys are absolutely hilarious. The only bad guy who can compete with this lot is Bennett from Commando!

Pretty sure that 9 Deaths of the Ninja is MGM as well. Ive got the Korean R0 DVD which is 2:35 and looks miles better than the US R1 4:3 I used to have.

9 Deaths... was a cool WTF movie. I remember watching it as a kid and being rather entertained. The scene where Sho gets attacked by a band of midgets, and another where these guys clamber up on a boat that has bikini girls wielding mounted machine guns are classic camp material

You havent remembered half of it! The lesbian hit squad for instance whose leader pulls the strangest faces imaginable?! The Dr Strangelove/Hitler bad guy?! The hero - Macho Man...yep thats his name!

I watched this a little while ago and Im convinced that the whole cast and crew (not Sho - hes very serious in this unlike everyone else) were rather the "worse for wear" during the whole thing to put it one way. The lead actress is definitely on something - if you watch it again keep an eye on her face. Looks stoned to me.
