I have several questions about this. First, is this THE Linda Lovelace porn film? If so, why is Amazon selling it? I'm totally confused. Is it considered to be quaint or to have a historical significance that overrides its pornographic content? Also, I've never read the forum rules, but I assume there had been a restriction on pornographic Blu-rays since they don't seem to be in the database.

Many hundreds of adult films are sold on Amazon and are listed on blu-ray.com.

I have the German mediabook, which is a Blu-ray but identical to the German DVD in PQ, so I'm interested in this if it's an upgrade.

It depends on what studio is releasing it and they only have "vintage feathre" porn listed here from labels like Vinegar Syndrome

So . . . how is it? No, I don't mean the hard core stuff, I mean the story. While I generally don't buy Blu/DVD porn, I'm a year long VS subscriber so some of it has wound up in my collection. On a whim, I put on Her Name Was Lisa and thought "Hey, the non-sex bits, the story, is actually pretty good!" as I fast-fowarded past the ****ing.

I'm seriously tempted to get this disc purely for the historic value alone. It's the one title that every single person will know from the genre, even if they've never seen porn in their life.

You're the first person I've encountered who fast forwards though the screwing to get to the non-sex scenes in a porno. How's the weather there in upside-down backwards land?

It's actually quite pleasant here. Bowling averages are way up, mini-golf scores are way down.

Yeah, I know, it's like going to a 5 star steakhouse and ordering a salad. I'm not a prude or anything, I just have -ahem- specific tastes. So a dude railing a chick (or visa versa) is pretty dull, especially when the story was actually holding my attention.

I do the same with the VS hardcore titles. Some of them are actually good movies if you take away the sex.

I've not been into Porn since my 20's, but I do enjoy a good "English Dub" Hentai.
I have pretty near 200 of those, would have more, but I don't buy any disc that is only 30 minutes in length and/or not dubbed into English.

I love rolling out this story when H gets mentioned. It was a many, mant years ago, I was at a little mom-n-pop thrift store, a very very strongly Christian estblishment, browsing through the VHS and LDs - yeah, it was that long ago. Under the glass case at the front of the store, they had a couple of the more expensive Disney sets, stuff like the 150 dollar CAV Aladdin and so on, plus a smattering of other animated movies. And right there in the center of the nicely arranged display of all these children's movies was one copy of Legend of the Overfiend.

Oh to have been a fly on the wall of the parent who bought that along with all those other animated discs. . . .

It's definitely more interesting for its historical value than for its intrinsic value. I like Damiano, but I wouldn't rate Deep Throat as even one of his 10 best films. The story is intentionally ridiculous, and Harry Reems—who was a competent actor—is too hammy in his role, IMO.

Some of the humor works, though, and Linda Lovelace is interesting to watch. I always thought she was kind of plain looking, but there's definitely something compelling about her in Deep Throat (and Deep Throat 2). She has an unusual charm and charisma.

I think that Damiano happened to be in the right place at the right time with Deep Throat. Hardcore feature films (as opposed to stags and loops) were still a pretty new thing, and their existence had finally filtered into the mainstream consciousness. As a zany but earnest sex comedy, Deep Throat was palatable enough to allow mainstream people to check out this "porn business," the humor probably diffused some potential discomfort, and the movie consequently became a huge hit.

Deep Throat is extremely silly, not particularly sexy, but worth watching. I borrowed my dad’s credit card in the early 90s and bought it from the Movies Unlimited catalog on VHS. It’s not one I’ve returned to over the years.
