I've been hunting for a bluray player with a quick skip forward back
e.g +10s -10s buttons, ever since I discovered they existed. My googling shows a grand total of 2 official, and ~4 unofficial: - The Panasonic UB9000, and derivatives UB820, UB420 with a third party remote. (called Manual Skip) - UB9000 costs a fortune- Sony UBP-X500 only. (Called flash search) - No Dolby VisionHas anyone else discovered any other players with these mythical features? If you're in the US a google search shows plenty of 820's available.

One of the Panasonic players with a 900 remote should be fine, I think it needs to be the Canadian remote. Excellent remote with back-light, but it doesn't have the HDR Settings button, so you have to go through options or use the standard remote.

My mistake there, Im having slightly more luck now with googling, though none of the main retailers have them. When I looked earlier I was only getting eBay results and sites charging 150%rrp, so given the age of the player assumed they'd gone. |

Over here in Germany they're out of stock too.
This happened before, should be back pretty soon. |

But you need a programmable remote to use it because Sony just doesn't put those buttons on the remotes. I added the Advance/Replay to my Logitech Harmony 650 when I first got it. On PS5/PS4, you can skip if you're using the controller by swiping left/right on the touchpad. On PS3 you have to bring up the on screen controls and the skip buttons are there. https://i.imgur.com/Nx9KwgE.mp4 I just recorded that clip with my X700 using the Harmony remote |

I just got an x500 cheap as I don't need DoVi currently, and the skipping functionality (on this remote!) works well, plus I can toggle subtitles with one button. It's really nice to have both those functionalities. I never tried the touchpad on the PS5 🤦, annoyingly my TV doesn't support DTS passthrough or 7.1 PCM (S90C, despite what Rtings said, doesn't support 7.1 PCM passthrough on PC or PS5!) which limits the usefulness slightly, and my audio setup is HDMI2.0 only. Ugh, technology! |
