How did Warner end up with this? Either way, hopefully we finally get the uncut version on disc.

They probably leased the rights to Miramax decades ago, only for that to have expired.

I'm not a fan of the film, but many are.

There are a few ideas/concerns.

Proper subtitles for the Hong Kong version (SDH should only be additional).
The export version as originally presented (no patching of soundtracks).
Additional 5.1 mix with stereo OST.
Address some of the concerns surrounding the visuals.

Would love for 88 or Eureka to fundraise for the licensing of it from Warner. Would likely do some amazing things with it, if they could.

According to the Warner Archive’s videos, the 1994 export version omits the original ending.

If this is a true release and not an April Fool’s prank:

4K master from the original negatives, presented in 1080p
1994 export English audio with original ending presented in Cantonese with English subtitles
Cantonese and Mandarian audio
Full-length English subtitles (90% sure these will be SDH only)

That means the truncated English audio made for the Dimension Films release is not included. Unless Warner is licensing the disc or masters from Miramax.

At the same time, they did say something was being worked on. Maybe it's just coincidental.

The YouTube entries are a bit weird, in that they aren't what's described in relation to the subtitles (i.e. missing).

WB acquired a chunk (I'm not sure how many titles) of the Golden Harvest catalog, this title included but had to wait for Miramax's license to expire.

Is there a list of some of the titles included? I recall seeing something about WB owning the rights to Pedicab Driver.

Tsui Hark’s incredible The Blade is another. Unfortunately, these idiots left huge, ugly subtitles that you can’t turn off

I am only interested in the English dub with Jackie Chan's real voice. The Cantonese version is dubbed. You will only hear his real voice in the English dub.

This is an absolute dream come true for me. This is one of the crown jewels in Jackie Chan's filmography, and an excellent showcase of his talents. I hope we'll be getting a good release of Project A sometime soon as well.

There already is one. The Eureka UK release of PA1 and 2. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Jacki.../#RegionCoding

If you don't have a Region Free player, you are missing out on some amazing Jackie Chan releases in the UK from Eureka and 88 Films.
