Default X-MEN Sentinels: Anything out there similar?

Hi all, the Sentinels from X-Men are my favourite characters in all of Marvel. I love the Sentinels. I was watching a 'Wolverine and the X-Men' episode and I really loved how the Sentinels had such a prominent role. The episode was called 'Rover'. This episode was really amazing for me to watch.

Is there anything out there where we see robots trying to save people from certain death? I'd appreciate something similar to the Sentinels from another animated TV show or movie.

I don't mind watching Japanese Anime, either!

Thanks!

Thanks, bro!

When you say 'mecha', do you mean robot vehicles that are piloted by humans? I just want something where the robots have their own intelligence, not when they're just 'empty vessels'.

Thanks!

Other than the old Transformers (if that's even considered anime) I can't think of anything like the Sentinels. Sorry.

There's plenty of mechs though.

I thought maybe you meant self-aware/AI 'bots last night, and I had a heck of a time trying to think of one. Hmmmm...

Like said above, besides Transformers (which does have a number of Japan-exclusive series), autonomous robots aren't a very popular subject in Japan.

And of the shows I can think of that are close (like Casshern, 8 Man, etc) focus on characters which would be more accurately considered cyborgs and follow a strictly Japanese take on the superhero genre.

Really? I thought the Japanese adored robots?

The 20minute episode 'Rover' from the show 'Wolverine and the X-Men' is exactly what I was looking for.

Is there anything where we see a aero-plane or spaceship's auto-pilot take over and fly by itself using an AI?

You're confusing that for "mecha"

I still find it odd how there aren't any robots in Japanese anime.

Did anyone check out the episode 'Rover' from Wolverine and the XMen?

this is starting to feel like a guerilla marketing tactic by Marvel to get us to watch this cartoon series. hmmmm....

and if we're talking about things we can't believe aren't in anime...i'm still waiting for a series featuring reanimated poached kangaroos taking back their habitat.

Ha!

The more I think about this, my brain only comes back to Cencoroll. It's only a short one-shot OVA if I remember right. And I'm not sure you'd classify 'robot' or 'beast/monster' or what.

And I DO have Wolverine and the X-Men show on BD, but havent watched it in forever, so I cant really compare!

edit: FLCL, to a point. It's more a human drama, but Canti is a VERY much loved robot, in general.
