The problem with the anime thread is the hundreds of pages of posts it makes difficult to find information on a specific release though.

Thoroughly excited for this! I've been waiting patiently to watch it ever since I learned about it earlier last year. Pompo the Cinéphile was a masterpiece, so I have no doubt that Studio CLAP has produced another home-runner with this one. It is now receiving its North American premiere at Otakon later this month. There’s something to be said for a short, succinct movie with something to say, that’s not part of some overarching metanarrative, that’s crafted well, and likely to remain long in the mind afterwards. The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes is that movie, and I heartily recommend it.

The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit to [sic] Goodbyes

Writer-director Tomohisa Taguchi’s The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes, which won the Paul Grimault Award this year at Annecy, is a striking mixture of fantasy-adventure and romance that tackles serious issues. The hero and heroine are believable teenagers who have been emotionally damaged by harsh experiences that American animated characters seldom, if ever, encounter. The film is based on the light novel of the same name by Mei Hachimoku (available in English).

“Ryoichiro Matsuo-san, a producer from CLAP studio, and I were developing an original project; when it did not get through, I was handed The Tunnel to Summer, the Exit of Goodbyes,” Taguchi explains. “I had been making action movies for most of my career, and I wanted to make a story that focused on purely human drama. This story has protagonists settling with his/her past and broken love. I thought these elements would make this title different from other animated features.”

Taguchi, whose credits range from Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War to Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning, wrote the screenplay, storyboarded and directed the film, trimming its rambling narrative and tightening its focus on the main characters. He discussed the creation of Tunnel to Summer in a recent interview conducted via email.
There's still time to preorder the film on Blu-ray, now $21.28 at Amazon and coming January 9, 2024 from Sentai!

I finally got to watch this myself and I gotta say, what a ride. Wonderful movie throughout with great visuals, like many of the beautiful artwork I come across at online art-sharing hub and community Pixiv coming to life in a motion picture. The music is exquisite, I am going to look after the soundtrack to buy it for my music collection. The story is very lovely, you get to see the relationship between these two young souls grow and flourish pretty nicely into reaching a very heartwarming and satisfying conclusion. While it does have its tough moments for the characters, it's a very passionate project and often radiates good vibes and joy, and is just an amazing and pleasant watch overall. A great choice for this upcoming Valentine's Day, too. This movie is one to be watched by all!

Sentai's Blu-ray was recently given a rave review on Blu-ray.com, courtesy of Neil Lumbard, with great scores for the film and the disc's audiovisual qualities:

Fans of acclaimed anime filmmakers such as Makoto Shinkai (Weathering With You, Suzume, Your Name.), Mamoru Hosoda (Belle, Mirai, Summer Wars), and Masaaki Yuasa (Ride Your Wave, Lu Over the Wall, Inu-Oh) will want to see this incredible anime film. Don't miss it.
Also, the film will be coming to Hulu in July for wider accessibility as well:
