Default Bush BPBS23108 - Help

So I’ve had this specific portable player for a few years now, but decided to dig it out of storage for Dad for when he's in hospital (he's going through Chemotherapy at the moment) so that he has something to watch discs on while getting his treatments, but the battery life is just down right shocking! Probably due to its age and inactivity over the years.

He doesn't have a smartphone so this is his only option.

Is there some way to replace the internal battery with something better?

It was bought second hand, so warranty isn't an issue, lol.

Best wishes to you and your Dad, mate.

Depending on the unit it should be possible to replace the battery for a new one, but as the units are fighting for space it might be a bit daunting opening it up. There are quite a few YouTubers that show repairs.

Thanks Chip.
I'll be honest, this is just the latest of family issues to happen this year. We're not even sure on his prognosis yet. He's only had two rounds of Chemo so far. The first was the worst.

As for the Bush Blu-ray player, I'm not even sure what kind of internal battery it uses, let alone how it's attached to everything else inside (I can't solder to save my life if that's involved anywhere).

I'm not even sure if they could do it at Currys.

They're usually a pack of batteries wrapped together soldered to the player. But that doesn't sound like an option.

Might be worth checking CeX. Would he mind a DVD player?

Also depending on where he is in the hospital you should be able to find a wall outlet. The last time I was there the floor was like Spaghetti Junction with charging cables!

Sorry to hear of your troubles, Billz.

He's really only scratched the surface of Blu-ray (the only two he's got in his personal collection is "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" and "War For the Planet of the Apes"), which is where my big library comes in if he's in the mood to watch something else.

I guess I just want him to have as many options as possible, so a Blu-ray player is perfect for him.

And last I checked, portable 4K players don't actually exist so...

As for the player cable itself, it's quite lengthy, but I'd hate for it to get tangled up in any vital tubes attached to him during his treatments. That's why a good battery would be ideal.

I guess in a way that makes sense in my head, I want to do my best to make things less stressful for him, because it's killing me that I can't do anything about his condition.

I thought about a power bank, but the weight might be an issue.

Replacing the battery is your best bet, if you have a PC repair shop nearby they'll be able to change and perhaps upgrade the battery for you.

How long does the current battery last?

Look at this way:
He’d be lucky if he could get through an overhyped Marvel movie in one sitting with this thing.
