Looks like this has been announced by Umbrella, sounds very interesting. I also think ‘The Empty Beach (1985)’ deserves a BluRay or 4K UHD. The 4K scan of that has already been screened at a film festival.

Are you sure you’re not confusing this film with The Salute of the Juggler, which Umbrella did just announce a 4K restoration of?

They obviously thought the proper ending was too bleak and pessimistic. Ironically similar to what happened with the theatrical cut of Blade Runner, except their "solution" was to just chop it off rather than negate it with a tacked-on nonsense ending.
