I don't know how many of you pay attention to where movies are filmed, but those who do certainly notice that many, many "American" movies are now made in Canada. My take is that the Canadian government gives some tax exemption to productions (and there may be some other labor benefits, I'm not sure).
What I'm really wondering is whether Canadians and the rest of the world see these as Canadian movies, American movies or simply North American movies? I'm pretty certain that J6P never realizes that the Midwestern setting they just watch is not Illinois or Wisconsin, but is instead Manitoba or Saskatchewan, and that East Coast setting is really British Columbia. |
