Is it just me, or are some DVD / Blu-Ray season cases just really scary for long-term viability of the discs without breaking them?
See the next few photos for an example DVD case (Star Trek DS9 in this case), using a sacrificial BDR to demonstrate. Doesn't it hurt to bend a disc like this? Let alone the potential rubbing on other discs during this process. IMG_0536.jpg IMG_0538.jpg I started to get especially concerned when I noticed what may be stress cracks around the inner ring as shown in the next photo: IMG_0554.jpg In this case, my solution has been to create a makeshift 'book' of sorts as shown below. It sits very nicely in the case. I will keep the plastic disc holder I removed in the unlikely event that I ever want to restore these to their original configuration. IMG_0545.jpg IMG_0550.jpg I am just curious if anyone else agree that these disc holders are not good long-term, and what/if anything others have done about it. Thanks! |
