Well if Toshiba backs out and Universal/Paramount go Blu, there'd really be no reason for Warner to keep releasing on HD DVD.

I would definitely assume that Toshiba stopping the manufacturing of HD DVD players would trigger an escape clause in Warner's contract that has forced them to release titles through May. Once the contract is essentially voided by Toshiba's action, they shouldn't need to release the remaining titles.

They may still do that, at least for the ones already pressed... but they woulnd't have to.

I don't think that Warner is 'forced' to release HD DVD until May, I believe they are only doing it as a courtesy towards all those titles they had already announced.

I would imagine all involved would sell through their merchandise and be done with it. This isn't ET.

Agreed, only the stuff that is done, why wast money on something that will not sell well if at all.

Reports were that they have a contract with Toshiba through May, 2008 to continue releasing "titles in sufficient quantities" or something to that effect. If they actually were attempting to be courteous they wouldn't push the titles back 3 weeks.
