I was convincing myself this rumored ultimate set was just a fever dream, never to be realized.

And then you had me at Coming October 5th.

A listing with this date first appeared in a different online store about two months ago, but the fact we're seeing it in more stores is hopefully a good sign that it's real and we'll get an announcement soon.

I'm really curious to see what the new extras will be (they've confirmed it will have new content).

Hopefully the rest of the deleted scenes that were filmed.

Pretty much all Warners do with their 'Ultimate Collectors Edition' sets is put existing discs in fancy packaging, add some tat and bung in a single disc of new extras. This set will have newly mastered BDs of the six films, and possibly all the current extras collated onto single BDs for each film, but from looking at their UHD counterparts I'm not sure the new BDs are a good thing or a bad thing lol

So The Hobbit Blu-ray Discs are gonna have the new 4K transfers as well? I remember reading that numerous times, since the new color grading on the, and LOTR look fantastic and I’d love to upgrade my current Blu-rays of the old transfers.

Its going to need to have a substantial new amount of extras to have me get this on addition to the 4K steelbooks and bluray sets I already have.
