Wicked Vision ships internationally from their website. I ordered Reform School Girls from them and had no issues. Not sure why this release needed a DVD. Looks like release got delayed until Oct 29.

Website says sold out, is this a placeholder until it’s in stock? Never heard of this place before this movie

I'm not sure, but if it allows you to place an order, I'd say give it a shot. You could send them an email and see if they answer. Their Reform School Girls release was really good. The only other title of theirs I know I have is The Most Dangerous Game which was a really nice quality release as well. My direct order experience with RSG was painless.

Looks like they commented on their Facebook page in late Sept that it was almost sold out so I'd say that probably is the case.

A small contingent can be ordered again. If we get cancellations, we will release some again.

Received and watched this yesterday and thought that it couldn't hurt to give a few observations that might help others....
The picture is by far the best I ever expect to see from The Night Porter, it's crisp and detailed where it's intended to be with a fine natural grain throughout. Colour balance on this film is always tricky due to the majority of the picture using a muted but still rich palette. I've only ever seen the trailer for the Cult Epics release that was apparently overseen by Liliana Cavani, but I can't see any immediate obvious differences between the timing on that release and this one. The UHD image subtly adds a whole extra level of detail that makes it certain that this is for me the ultimate edition of this movie. Given the muted tones I'm not sure that HDR would make any serious improvement other than on the darker shadowy elements of the frame, but there's never any indication that the image suffers for not having it.
All of the extras apart from a short 4 minute archive interview with the director are English friendly with subtitles provided. The interview with Charlotte Rampling is apparently repurposed from the Cult Films release, otherwise they're new features and interviews that offer good and interesting insights. The discussion about the sexualisation and exploitation of the Nazi's and their symbology in (understandably almost exclusively non-German) movies by Prof. Dr. Marcus Stiglegger is pretty fascinating, especially if like me you've been raised in the culture of these being the archetypal foreign-other-villain for however many decades, his Germanic take on this subject is by nature of it's origins totally different from any other discussion of the issue that I've seen coming from the 'victors' perspective and all the more valuable for it. It's just a pity that there are no subs available for his commentary track, but Wicked Vision have already given me more than I could hope for with this release so I'm not complaining!
Highly recommended to any and all with the constitution to take this challenging movie.

Thanks El Dopo for feedback on this German UHD Mediabook release. A few thoughts/questions:

If you own a copy of the Criterion blu-ray, how does it compare?

I do not own either; I would prefer to buy a copy of the German 4K release, but the prices on the secondary market (eBay / Amazon.de marketplace) including shipping, are now around $100 after I missed on getting via DiabolikDVD.

Without HDR, curious how much better the 4K release is?

There have been some really nice non-HDR 4K discs released (The Good/Bad/Ugly, VFW, Brawl in Cell Block 99).

Previously I was interested in purchasing the international Bruce Lee 4K set (no HDR) And I contacted a member of this forum who had purchased it, and they recommended I stick with the criterion collection due to there being negligible difference in quality.

I don't own the Criterion disc (it's region A locked and I'm region B locked myself), but from what I understand it's not a great transfer, especially when compared to their usual high standards.
Everything I've seen about the Criterion disc complains of it having an overpowering blue/green colour correction applied. Usually I don't hold much faith in the usefulness of screen caps, but in this case I think that they are helpful:
https://caps-a-holic.com/c.php?a=1&x...3&l=0&i=8&go=1

The colours on the UHD disc look natural despite the eccentricities of the palette used in the original, it apparently has the same colour correction as the UK release that was overseen by Liliana Cavani herself.
Although the UHD isn't necessarily miles ahead of previous transfers in terms of sharpness, it again just has a much more natural appearance than any previous version I've seen (either in motion or in caps) making the resolution bump totally worth while for me.
It looks as though this release got very expensive very quickly. I know that there is going to be a standard blu brought out by Wicked Vision very soon (know that the Cult Epics release is region B locked but think that this one is region free), if it's the same as the blu version included with the UHD it looks great, just not as good as the 4K!

Edited to add: Just noticed in your signature that you're using an 85" screen, forget everything I said and get the 4K!

Thanks for the great feedback El Dopo. Trying to procure a copy without paying a $100. the 3 different mediabook covers are great, but if I had to choose I really like Cover A.

I contacted Diabolik DVD and was told no more copies coming. Found a couple German retailers but it looks like they don’t ship to USA.
