Default Sabrina (1995)

Kino Lorber just announced this!
On Blu-Ray, new 4K scan.

It's a reply to a comment on the post about the UHD of the original film:

The only BDs up until now were:
- a German BD using the HD master created for the DVD, and with no English audio track, only a German dub
- a Spanish bootleg sourced from the HD digital version, using the same ancient master

I think this is a HUGELY underrated film. People criticized Julia Ormond for not being Audrey Hepburn, which is insane. She's not doing an impression, and she's wonderful in the film in her own way, it's a very, very different movie from the first one.

I think the script is actually better than the first (sacrilege, I know, lol) with more humanity and more complexity for both Sabrina and Linus.

It has a BREATHTAKING John Williams score, gorgeous photography, eye-popping locations, and excellent direction from Sydney Pollack.

One of my favorite films of the 1990s.

I do.

Love Audrey Hepburn as I do (and I adore her, owning all her movies), I think the 1995 version is overall a better film.

It's about damn time. Hard to believe Paramount never released a Blu-ray.

And I won't be buying the '54 version. If this were released on 4k, I'd be buying that as well.

When people tell me they liked the Spielberg West Side Story better than the original or when I hear the Coen Bros True Grit is better than the original, it just makes me sad

Audrey Hepburn Sabrina with William Holden and Humphrey Bogart, I would rather watch this on a worn out VHS tape over a pristine 4K remaster of the remake.

Oh well to each his own, but it does make me sad

I love that movie, I adore Harrison Ford in this, and Greg Kinnear is hilarious.

Damn blu ray only means region A locked.
Any chance this gets published elsewhere?

Why does it make you sad? Because Spielberg and the Coens did better versions of each? I'm happy they were able to take great movies and make them even BETTER (and I say that as someone for whom WSS 1961 was my favorite musical of all time, but Spielberg, against all odds, made a better overall version).

There is a Polish release with no extras, but does have the English audio.

I couldn't agree more. Films like this make me miss the greats. These "stars" (and I like Harrison Ford) are not even worthy to tie the shoes of the likes Humphrey Bogart, Audrey Hepburn and William Holden. Not to mention the talent of Billy Wilder.

Man, how Hollywood has fallen. Well, at least they have comic books to copy and adapt to keep the cash flowing....
