USA Coraline (2009) 4K UHD SteelBook

Release date; December 13,2022

Quote:
The Laika company‘s stop-motion animated films “Coraline” and “ParaNorman” will be coming to 4K UHD Blu-ray in both standard and SteelBook forms on December 13th via Shout! Factory. The films are briefly individually highlighted below.

“Coraline” from 2009 was directed by Henry Selick, best known for also directing “The Nightmare Before Christmas” (1993). Selick adapted the screenplay from a book written by Neil Gaiman. The film featured the voice talents of Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, John Hodgman, Ian McShane, and Keith David. Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 1.85:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.

“ParaNorman” from 2012 was co-directed by Chris Butler and Sam Fell. Chris Butler also wrote the screenplay. The film featured the voice talents of Kodi Smit-McPhee, Tucker Albrizzi, Anna Kendrick, Casey Affleck, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Leslie Mann, Jeff Garlin, Alex Borstein, and John Goodman. Tech specs for the 4K UHD Blu-ray include a 2160p video presentation in the 2.35:1 aspect ratio with HDR10 and Dolby Vision forms of high dynamic range and Dolby Atmos sound.

Both of these 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBook releases will come in the form of a “combo pack” meaning that they each will also include their Blu-ray Disc counterpart. So far, you cannot yet find either of these available for preorder yet but stay tuned for updates. The bonus materials will include all of the previous Blu-ray extras from the latest editions as well as a booklet [for each]. Also, the 4K UHD Blu-ray SteelBooks (pictured further above) each feature new hand-drawn artwork. There’s no artwork yet for the standard 4K releases of the films but stay tuned for an update on that later.

I'm confused why they didn't do 4k for the release last year but I will double dip for the steel since it has 4k. Probably Paranorman too

Boxtrolls will come .. likely ... but I MUST have a Kubo 4K SteelBook Edition ... and perhaps Missing Link too ... love it if they would throw in the 3D discs too, but who am I kidding. I have the 3D versions (sans Missing Link 3D, of course) and would sell off the prior version(s) I've already double dipped for.

Kubo all the way. That’s my favorite Laika film along with Coraline and ParaNorman.

I third the hope for Kubo! A beautiful film that would undoubtedly make for a beautiful steelbook too. I have the steel they released for it before, and it's lovely, but there's a lot more interesting things they could do with the cover, especially after seeing Coraline and Paranorman. I'll happily snag both if it means a better shot at getting future releases.

Waiting for the standard case artwork. This new steelbook art isn’t satisfactory imho.

Oh, I see there will be booklets, per willo007's 2nd post. That sounds great, plus all the other love that's going into these 2 releases.
