The Cloud Door is a boutique home video label & film licensing service with a focus on South Asian & diasporic cinemas. It was founded by UK-based film programmers Ranjit S. Ruprai & Omar Ahmed.

The project so far

Since announcing The Cloud Door in January 2025, the messages of support from film fans, the industry and filmmakers around the world has been nothing short of incredible. The Cloud Door is the first boutique home video label dedicated to South Asian cinema. For this dream to become a reality, we are really going to need all the support we can get to move ahead in the next step of the journey. Our next action is to raise the necessary funds that will allow us to press ahead with the production of the first release.

Our mission

Our aim is to reach a global international audience of film fans who have an adoration for South Asian cinema, particularly Indian films. Offering these films in a high-quality Blu-ray format, we are making them accessible to both long-time fans and new audiences alike. With the continual growth of physical media, we feel there has always been a demand to see many classic Indian films given the boutique treatment which they deserve and which many film fans want to own and cherish.

Who are we?

The Cloud Door is the brainchild of UK-based film programmers and curators Omar Ahmed and Ranjit S. Ruprai who have previously curated and screened South Asian films in UK, Germany & Italy. This is an initiative that we have been talking about and planning for many years and are motivated by a desire to make such films more accessible both at home on Blu-ray and for independent cinemas & film clubs.
