Yeah, I took a chance and ordered a copy floating around already. It's from ViaVision, not Madman. It's an Australian release, though. And it is region free, even though there's a little "B" on the back.
Oh, and that release is in its proper 2.35:1 aspect ratio, not the 1.85 listed on the case and in the post above. The transfer is the usual DVD era one, most likely. No major cleanup or anything, but it's definitely better than the old DVD. Oh,, and audio is DTS 5.1 or 2 channel stereo. Last edited by ElectricPeterTork; 12-02-2019 at 11:29 PM. |

I'm surprised this hasn't been given a US release yet. Sadly, Richard Dreyfuss is the only main cast member still alive; Glenn Headley and Jay Thomas have both passed away. It would be nice to have current interviews though, with Dreyfuss, Olympia Dukakis, and William H. Macy.

The audio quality is terrible. Perhaps terrible is a bit of an exaggeration but it sounds, I don't know exactly how to describe it, tinny? It sounds like it's coming out of a single tiny speaker or something. The picture quality looks great but it's a shame it sounds as bad as it does considering this is the only release we're likely to ever see. I also own it digitally and it sounds much better there so that's the way I'll watch it instead of the blu-ray.
I compared it to the DVD and the DVD audio is much better than this blu-ray is. Last edited by brtracker2023; 09-04-2024 at 01:29 PM. |
