France Stores in Paris to browse/buy blu-rays?

Hi, I'm traveling to Paris soon and was wondering of any places to look for blu-rays or any French editions of movies that are worth picking up while there? I'll be all over Paris through my visit, so hopefully someone can name a few places that I'll happen to walk by and can stop in. Thanks!

You can always try a FNAC (our French Best Buy). They often have sales like "3 for the price of 2", you might find interesting stuff (plus, they already are displaying some Christmas boxset).

Otherwise, you have the Potemkine store (30 Rue Beaurepaire, 75010 Paris) which I always heard is quite nice.

Finally, there are the Gibert store near Saint Michel subway station.

I always go to the Gilbert store, fine selection, friendly, helpful staff, not speaking French that is an asset.

I wish you a fabulous time on your trip. I had never been to Europe, and spoke NO French. But after a couple years of waiting for other people to go, I decided to plan a trip and went via AirBnB in less than 2 weeks. I spent 8 days there, and while I didn't take complete advantage of all my time there (jet lag was a killer)... I can tell you this.

1) While I only spent 3 or 4 hours at the Louvre, it was well worth it. So much art and history there. Not having much experience with Sculpture, and not finding much of that in the states, that's what I focused on. Took many pictures, ate at a little café there, and really enjoyed it. The Starbucks, Apple Store, and other things to see are all in the underground "mall" there by the Louvre.

2) Once done at the Louvre, I walked to the Eiffel Tower. It wasn't right there, but there were parks to walk through, the Champs Elysse (outdoor shopping) I took pictures of without going in, etc. It was a very nice way to see the city, and again there were outdoor places to grab a soda, a sandwich, etc.

3) The metro was definitely the best way to travel. It was pretty simple once you got the hang of it, and was VERY affordable. Just gotta remember to get the multizone ticket if you are going from the airport into Paris proper.

4) Finally, and most importantly, FNAC was the easiest place for me to find and the only "video store" I went to. They are similar to Barnes and Noble with books, but they have a MUCH bigger selection of movies, electronics, and more. Personally, I bought 3 for the price of 2, getting Aladdin (wasn't available in the US), The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Disney animated), and Tangled. Fast and Furious 6 came out the day I was there, and I could have gotten in a month before the US launch, but I watched in on the plane on the way there and back, so I waited for the US release.

Hope you have a fabulous trip, and some of that helps!

Hi folks,

Sorry to bump this. Last time I went to Paris I noticed Gotham Video had closed down, but I'm sure I read somewhere that it had relocated (or a similar store had opened?) Does anyone know, as that shop was positively crammed with goodies - especially cult movies!

And any other suggestions to the above?

Merci!

I'm unsure, but I believe some of the staff moved to Metaluna Store - 7 rue Dante.

I'm going to Paris in October. Are there still some store I could visit?

There are a bunch of FNACs. It's a big multi-media store, sort of like Barnes & Noble, with a solid Blu-ray/4K/DVD section, even some import releases.

Fnac is probably your best bet. In my opinion, the Saint-Lazare location has the best selection in the city. There's also Potemkine and the shop at the Cinémathèque Française.

You want a specific type of film ?

Like some says, Fnac is the best for actual release and a bit choice of French old films.

But when you will be in downtown I suggest you to write “GILBERT shop” in maps. It’s à famous second hand shop of book/movies. They have 4 shop .

Also OCD, another second hand shop about music and movies. 3/4 shop in downtown.

Finally, if you want some fantastic/ horror / Asian movie , I suggest you to go : rue Dante. Especially the Metaluna store. Their you will find all news movies and second hand old movies + some books and revues.
