Question New Switch owner, Does Nintendo generally do large ESHOP Christmas sale for games?

So I was lucky enough to help out my brother with a move and afterward he just randomly gave me a switch OLED that had been used maybe 5 times by him. Anyway I have only 5 games, and I'm noticing as an Xbox/Playstation player that Nintendo doesn't do AS many sales on big AAA games or their own mega hits. So as someone who doesn't buy much around the holidays I thought about getting a gift card for myself for digital titles. Question is, are the sales generally good and big? Thanks in advance. Totally enjoying the switch, its pretty amazing with such very limited hardware what kinda graphics and games it can put out.

I know Steam, Microsoft, and Sony do big sales hence the question. Thanks again.
