...and a BUNCH of people just waiting to plop down their hard earned $$$ to add these final 3 to their collections. Barry Lyndon remains my absolute most coveted 4k upgrade...all made a bit easier as we know at least BL and EWS are pending. Lolita is also higher in my fav SK's that probably most, but not so sure about when we might get that one in our hands....aren't there some unusual rights issues with the title?

It could just be the subject matter as well.

I think we would'nt of gotten kubrick's most earliest films on 4k (well at least in the u.s.) if it wasn't for kino

Oh yeah, of course....how could I forget. Considering that concern of the subject manner, doubtful Lolita will ever see a 4k release (Stanly Kubrick be damned! LOL!) I guess the risk that someone would see it and then act out perv tendencies because of what they saw in the film is much greater than someone watching, say a movie about serial killers and then acting out their murder tendencies because what they saw in the film?

A couple weeks ago I rewatched The Killing (the Kubrick film that I've lately most been re-evaluating...it's rising!)...and I don't think I even for an instant considered planning and carrying out a race track robbery.

I'll stop now, because this is a road to nowhere and I get too fired up on the subject!

Paths of Glory is fantastic, i'd get the UK Eureaka Masters of Cinema release as it's encoded by FiM

Criterion's blu-ray of Barry Lyndon is already pretty good

Lolita needs remastering

Eyes wide shut is rumoured to be coming out this year and I really hope it does

Does the 5 movie UK set include Dolby Vision for 2001 A Space Odyssey? According to this site it seems not, but why would they make two different discs in the same year (2021)?

I don't think so. I haven't heard anything like that.

It's up at Amazon available for digital purchase, still credited to Warner Bros. If there were a rights issue, I would think it it would have been pulled.

The BD appears to be either OOP or between pressings, but that doesn't mean much, Warner has let a ton of their catalog titles go OOP over the last few years.

No one's updated the info, that's all. The discs are the same, so that means Dobly on 2001, The Shinning and Spartacus, HDR10 on FMJ and Clockwork.

Barry Lyndon already has a 4k master ready to go, just a matter of time till Criterion upgrades or WB puts it out themselves. (Looks like it's gonna be the latter)

Gotta keep Kubrick relevant....

[Show spoiler]or mofoz forget and we end up with no good directos/editors/cinematographers/sound designers/set design/costumes/plot/endings&acting etc. even in modern movies. Actually that's almost where we are because you can't even count 5 good filmmakers alive on 1 hand anymore.

Most have more stinkers than good overall on their resume. Kubrick's resume is unparalleled. He is the definitive director in all of film. No one hit wonder bullshit like the rest.

Resume of shit these days. From these entitled Hollywood nobodies. And that's just being honest imagine if I told a little tale or two.

Hmm. What makes you say that?

I don't trust WB with this title. They botched the blu-ray with the updated WB logo at the top of the movie and then incorrect aspect ratio. As much as I want this in 4K, I will likely wait for Criterion. Seems like they're just leaving money on the table by not releasing it themselves.

There was a leak a little while back that included it. Whether or not it was real is another matter but so far it's looking true considering what else is on it.

If they do it in-house I'm hoping it gets a Warner Archive disc like The Searchers, which would mean a great encode to-boot if they work with FiM again.

Right! We need Closed sets of EWS, then Open World BL, then Remastered B&W perfection of Lolita on 4K all with Uncompressed OG audio.

There's more than 5, but the vast majority are 70+ and no longer producing their best work.

Go for it. The problem isn't so much the talent but what the industry will accept and encourage. Even international/arthouse cinema has become incredibly formulaic. Everything needs to fit into its neat little category on Netflix - and must 'second screen' effectively, if it wants to be sold at all... "Content" is king.

Like Tarantino, I find theatre to be more interesting these days. There's a direct financial relationship between the producer and the audience that allows innovative work to cut through and succeed from time to time. Not to mention a sense of event and better etiquette from audiences (on the whole).
