Cool. Love that its coming to 4K UHD. Not really my thing though I was born at the right time to have this be a staple of growing up a kid in the 90's on VHS, it just never resonated with me like other adventure/coming of age movies.

My routine when monitoring the 4K forum:

- Movie I own on Blu-ray gets announced for UHD
- Go to shelf, remove Blu-ray copy and add to box to sell

Site already has a US listing in place https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-G...lu-ray/264029/

And the UHD back catalogue releases for June keep piling up.

I never liked this or the stupid pop-culture references that came from it.

Campy, over-lit, aggravating child performances, misplaced sentiment...the only bright spot is Jeff Cohen.

But why people make a big thing over "the truffle shuffle" is beyond me. It's nothing.

Crap score by Dave Gruisin too.

I think it is a film that mostly resonates with the yanks. I don't mind say in comparison to most Steve Martin film's. How anyone finds most his stuff funny baffles me.

This may be a rule exception in my house. I can't buy any UHDs I have on BRD, with exceptions being Star Wars, Spielberg, or classics. This may not fall into the classics catagory, but my wife has feelings for Sean Astin and Josh Brolin.

I was never into The Goonies even when I was younger, and I know it's not going to do anything for me now. I'll pass.

The Goonies is rightfully considered an 80s classic for me, and when it arrives in the UK it’ll be day freakin’ one.
It totally nailed the “it’s ostensibly aimed for kids but adults will also enjoy the heck out of it” that any great family film should have (E.T, Princess Bride, Back to the Future, etc), and as for aggravating child performances, I think it’s one of those films where the child actors are totally and utterly likeable (not your usual smug little Hollywood brats).

I watched it again recently for the umpteenth time, and still loved every minute of it.
