Does anyone know if the German blu-ray has burnt-in/forced subs, or can they be turned off?

I would need to check if I have a German disc but if anything they would have translations of location names if they appear on screen like in Operation Fortune. Only older movies in France have a tendency to have unremovable subtitles when you choose to watch them in English.
