With the wide array of receivers on the market, and with the options i'm looking for - I need help in suggesting what receiver to look for. The option's I am looking for are:
1. 1.3a HDMI connections 2. At least 4 HDMI connections for: PS3, XBOX 360, BR stand-alone, Cable 3. Decodes True HD sound. 4. HDMI switching ? (no extra audio cable) 5. 7.1 speaker connections With these options in mind, what would you guys suggest? Most bang for the buck, on these? As well as speakers? What would be the best bang for the buck on speakers also? I've seen some receivers that accept wireless audio, are there adapters you can attach to receivers to make them receive wireless audio as well? And/or is wireless audio just as good in sound quality as wired? |

4 hdmi inputs will cost you $$
you may want to consider 2 or 3 inputs and adding an hdmi switcher to share one of the inputs...or connect the cable via Component (1080i max anyways). what is your budget? |

I always suggest looking at Onkyo and Yamaha receivers. Both brands seem to be the populaces general consensus on value (quality for the price). For what you are looking for though, it may cost you up to $1200... even more if you are in Canada!
Between my Onkyo 805 (does everything you want except it has 3 HDMI inputs), my Bowers & Wilkins M-1 series speakers, my Bowers & Wilkins AS2 subwoofer, and the speaker wire to connect them all, I spent an easy $3000. Which brings me to the next question... what is YOUR budget? Last edited by Petra_Kalbrain; 02-17-2008 at 06:54 PM. |

Looks like the marantz fits the bill, budget would be around $1000, I'm not really informed on setting up surround sounds on this marantz - what would be the purpose of having two outputs?
Also it has 4 surround sound backs, and 7 speaker system connections, So you can connect up to 11 speakers? if a movie is 5.1 would the surround sound upconvert it to 7.1 , but if you're using all 11 of these speaker connections would you get the sound in all 11 speakers? |

so you don't have to share one input on your tv for every device you have.
Two inputs allows you to use different picture settings...so the dvd player (standard definition) and and Bluray player (high definition) dont have to share the same brightness,contrast,color,tint,sharpness...etc. or you can send video out to more than one TV or monitor. 2 hdmi outputs is a HUGE plus. ![]() |
