I just noticed, that a few weeks ago all seasons of the show as well as the complete series set were relisted on iTunes US. That means in additon to the "old" version I bought a year ago, there is also a new version of the set available to buy on iTunes. The single seasons are also newly listed.
I compared the playing times of my old versions of the episodes to those in the new listing and noticed a difference. After that I decided to compare the second episode of the first season (I Love You) on Peacock to the one I own on iTunes. And sure enough. The one I own on iTunes has a running time of 21:18 minutes and the one on Peacock is 22:57 minutes. After that I checked the version that's on Paramount+ and that is also the shorter version I have on iTunes. What seems to be missing in the shorter version is the intro where Raymond builds the castle and explains what the show is about. Later one there is a scence where Raymond and Deb walk back into their house afer having eaten at a restaurant with friends. In the longer version you can see them come into the kitching and having a short conversation. After that they go into the living room where Frank is playing with their daughter. The shorter version of the episode omits the first part of the scene. The scence in the kitchen with Raymond and Deb talking is gone. Instead it cut's directly from the restaurant to an outside shot of the house and then to the part with Frank and his granddaughter. I haven't checked anymore episodes but already saw some additional runtime differences in other episodes. So it appears there are two different digital versions of the show out right know. It's uncut on Peacock and in the new version on iTunes and edited on Paramount+ and the old version on iTunes. Unfortunately the old version I own on iTunes hasen't been replaced with the new owns, because the show was newly listed. Was the Cut/Uncut thing a known fact and I just missed it or is this news to anybody else? Last edited by iceman; 08-30-2023 at 06:24 PM. |
