Default Ain't It Cool News calling the war over!

Not sure if this was posted anywhere else, but it looks like AICN has admitted that Blu Ray has won the war and it looks like the talkbackers are letting Harry hear about it.

Right. It isn't just our word anymore which of course has a slight bias even though we all new this was to be the case in the end.

Knowles is a schill, and he still tries to pretend he's done any other research on the products besides which bank to deposit his Toshiba check into. I love how he declares a victory but still claimes HD-DVD is the better format to save face. *******.

A lot of double-dipping on the Prozac prescription.

Toshiba Hints at Dropping HD DVD, Report Says
Decision could come soon, Hollywood Reporter says.

Toshiba is planning to abandon HD DVD in the next few weeks, according to a story in the Hollywood Reporter, which cites “reliable industry sources.”

The Hollywood Reporter quotes Toshiba’s Jodi Sally as saying that recent developments are shifting the company’s outlook.

“Given the market developments in the past month,” she is reported as saying, “Toshiba will continue to study the market impact and the value proposition for consumers, particularly in light of our recent price reductions on all HD DVD players.”

The story also quotes an HD DVD source saying the move could come soon. “An announcement is coming soon,” the source is reported as saying. “It could be a matter of weeks.”

Toshiba isn’t commenting on the story, calling it “rumors and speculation.” So please, take it with a grain of salt until any official announcement is made.

Just this week, Netflix and Best Buy both announced that they will be supporting Blu-ray.

At CES, Toshiba said they were committed to HD DVD despite Warner Bros.’ decision to release its discs solely on Blu-ray starting this May.

Since the January event, both sides have announced incentives for buying hardware and software, with Toshiba cutting prices of players significantly.

Krusty the Clown endorsing a presidential candidate would carry more weight with me than this does.

ah the man that once said:

Quote:
What made me go HD DVD?

The kicker is... that it can play the 9000 or so DVDs I already have, as well as the HD DVDs. That Backwards compatibility feels right. Also - from the demonstrations I've seen, HD DVD looks better than the BLUE RAY discs. I also love that the player has an upconversion that raises the quality of my existing DVD library to 720p and sometimes 1080i. I've already tested it out and DVDs that I watched last time I watched them - look better than they had before.

I also have a habit of picking the winning formats. I could be wrong this time, but most of my filmmaker friends, in fact all of them that I have had a conversation regarding this with... have told me... HD DVD is the format to go with.
must hurt him to do this....poor guy is getting hammered by the blu-ray crew as well which is funny.....course now he is sort of back peddling on these "quasi" pro blu-ray comments there and defending hd-dvd as the superior format in the comments section of the story....wonder if he will cry himself to sleep tonight.....

Looks like even Harry has bought a couple extra HD DVD players for back up. Mint in box? Dude, you better take those things out of the boxes and update the firmware while you still can. Otherwise one of these days you may open one of them brand spankin new players and it won't ever play some of them old HD DVDs.

Not really cool cause we probably wont see BOGO sales ever again.
Wars are funny and they bring on better sales.

Bought?? LOL. Those are some of the freebies Toshiba gave him. He likes to say "no money changed hands", so, instead, he got an instant HD-DVD collection and storeroom full of players to hand out to his famous friends in hopes they'd jump on his bandwagon. They also gave everyone who attended Harry's Birthday (aka: Buttnumbathon) free players. Like I said, he's a corporate schill.

True. At one point he said he couldn't afford a blu-ray player, but now has 4 HD DVD players.

I used to really dig that site, but it just became kind of annoying. Sometimes Harry's head get's a bit inflated. Perhaps that's an understatement?

I just picked up Harry Knowles credibility... I found it crying and disheveled on the side of the highway. Evidently, it ran away from home years ago and has been wandering all this time. I have it locked up in my storage shed right now, but I've promised to find it a better home. Any suggestions?

The great part of getting the "war" won so early in the year is that the BDA will have the entire year to concentrate on the adoption of Blu-ray by the masses. With 100% studio support, dropping prices, elimination of confusion, and increased selection of players.

That is funny since he was always such a big HD DVD supporter. All those guys bashing him must be new to the sight or they would know that Harry was an HD DVD fan, he even mentioned he has four players in the article. HD DVD fans are sooooooooooo bitter and dilussional!!!
