This film has always looked BAD on home video. Perhaps this will change now?

I love the Amicus portmanteaus.

This isn’t my favourite, but I’ll be getting it in a quiet month.

Indeed. I have bought three different versions of this over the years, one on dvd and two on bluray and haven't been happy with any of them

So I'll hang on for the reviews. It's one of my favourite British horrors and I'd love a night and day difference to previous releases. I don't believe it yet but I'm hoping they wouldn't have embarked on a 4K restoration unless they could do it justice. As Dr Starr used to say

Is this first non-Dr Who Amicus production to get the UHD treatment?

This upcoming 4K UHD Blu-ray is the last chance for great transfer of this film, IMO. If it doesn’t happen this time, I don’t think it ever will. I’m a little nervous though because Severin has botched discs big time in the past, more so than other boutique labels IIRC.

The past few years they’ve done much better. So fingers crossed, but I just might wait for the reviews, like franzsanchez said.

I kind of wish Arrow was doing this release instead.

Severin has had this out on Blu-ray Disc, but that was apparently a 2K scan of "vault elements".

So presumably this is a new scan.

The problem with Arrow is that, with few exceptions, vintage British horror really isn't their specialty. To me, 88 Films would have been a much more likely candidate. But regardless of label, let's hope this enjoyable film gets the upgrade and makeover it deserves.

Now that you mentioned it, I really tend to agree even more now about Arrow. 88 Films just might do this too if they can get the master and the rights. But I think Vinegar Syndrome would have done an excellent 4K. I simply love their release of Dr.Terror’s House of Horrors (1965). Love it.

Second Sight have current UK rights. So if they can renew and get the 4K master, they are the most likely choice for a UK version.

I'm not one to upgrade everything to 4K if it's a straight port of the Blu. This having a new interview puts it on my want list for sure.

Kind of surprised TALES FROM THE CRYPT didn't get a 4K first. The current release looks solid and would definitely benefit from HDR. THE VAULT OF HORROR, on the other hand, screams for a full restoration.

Last chance? Hardly, a lot labels released Amicus titles and this genre is put often on UHD even the not so great ones

Severin Films kindly verified for me that the 1080 blu included in this new release would indeed be from the new 4K scan.

I'm holding out to the possibility that shout announces a 4K re-release of these for October. (Also hoping for dead ringers)

Rockshockpop has a review up, but ignore the screen shots as they are not from this new release.

I can't find this release on their website only the bluray.

Is it exclusive for US customers?
