Thanks. Hopefully they release this film in theaters if it's good enough for theatrical. Ice Road was streaming only, otherwise I may have seen it if it was released in most theaters.
The Marksman was the last Liam Neeson film I saw, which I liked and is one of his better films surprisingly, behind Darkman, Taken 1, Run All Night, etc. |

The advanced word on this is pretty good, supposedly rising well above the normal slew or recent Neeson thrillers. I'm in for a trip to the theater this weekend. Placing the story in Ireland is also a definite plus. It up to an 83% on Rotten Tomatoes as of today.

Just got done seeing this film. It's actually quite good; maybe Neeson's best film, and best work, in years. It's certainly a cut above those by the numbers action films that he has been phoning in for more than a decade or so. The story is layered and there are strong characterizations to make the whole endeavor interesting. Kerry Condon is absolutely powerful in her role as an IRA soldier. Setting the narrative in 1974 Ireland, with the country's unique landscape serving as a compelling backdrop, the film is gifted with an atmospheric quality that helps draw you into the story. I would recommend it.

Directed by the Marksman, also starring Liam Neeson, which was a good movie IMO. I'd like to see this.

Good to hear you liked it. I don't think I"ll get a chance to see it before it's out of theaters. Just one of those timing things where this should've released in theaters in February IMO. Too much competition in theaters at this time. |

I never saw a trailer or heard about it before it started playing. I check what's playing at the theaters every week and end up going to most of the titles that open. This saves me a lot of money on blind buy discs.

These days however, movie theater films are reaching $9 to $14 on matinee shows too, so it's almost evening out lately. Even so, it's fun to see movies in theaters and get early previews before they hit disc. And as you said, saves the larger investment for the disc price if it's not great. The trailer to this looks interesting. I was surprised to see any action as it's listed as a thriller. |

I saw this at the theater over the weekend. It was a better film than I expected. It's more of a drama with some action elements. It's well written and the cast is excellent. I love the location where it was filmed. Makes me wanna live there.

Took my folks to see this yesterday for $6 Tuesday.
Beautifully shot film. Enjoyed the performances by everyone. I totally didn't even realize King Joffrey was on my screen. lol This might be one of Neeson's best performances I can think of. Probably helps that he probably felt right back at home in Ireland working with a bunch of fellow Irish actors. |

Nice, tastefully done film. Kerry Condon steals the show. I could have easily watched a sequel with her character but that's not how these kinds of films work. Will probably skew older and that makes sense (I was the only non-senior citizen in the auditorium).

This was the first Neeson film in a long while where I didn't know it was in theaters till I saw the trailer by accident looking for other movie trailers.
Good to hear it's getting positive reviews here. Memory, that was lacking IMO, and I won't buy that on disc. The Marksman was one of Neeson's recent best films IMO. |
