(Richard Franklin, 1978)
Release date: 20 February 2024
Limited Edition Blu-ray

From director Richard Franklin (Roadgames) comes Patrick, a terrifying fusion of science fiction and Hitchcockian thriller, starring Susan Penhaligon (House of Mortal Sin), Robert Helpmann (The Red Shoes), and Robert Thompson (Thirst).

Murderer Patrick (Thompson) is kept in a comatose state between life and death, under the watchful eye of the eccentric Dr Roget (Helpmann). When he is assigned a caring new nurse, Kathy (Penhaligon), he becomes possessive, and uses telekinetic powers to torment anyone who comes between them.

Produced by Antony I Ginnane (Snapshot), written by Everett De Roche (Harlequin), and scored by Brian May (Mad Max), Patrick’s unprecedented international success made it a landmark of the Australian New Wave.

Never seen this one but I'll probably blind-buy. I have seen Patrick Still Lives, the Italian "sequel," and it's absolutely batshit.

I'm in. This is a day 1 grab.

I actually saw the fairly solid remake (Patrick:Evil Awakens 2013), liked it well enough, and bought it on blu, before ever seeing the original film.

Good movie. It's amazing how much mileage it gets out of one really creepy dude laying in bed staring throughout.

Probably safe to say they may have also picked up Thirst. Need that one on 4K. Don't quite like Severin's yellow-tinged transfer.

A 4K uhd of Thirst (1979) from Powerhouse would be another instant day 1 grab.

I’m confused by this release I see Indicator’s monthly newsletter on new announcements and I don’t recall seeing this listed yet?

Something seems off

Yeah, this supposedly comes out in 2 weeks, no official announcement (that I've seen) and the pre-order I did on Amazon, the item itself has dissapeared. Assume this is coming later.

This, and Snapshot were probably originally scheduled for December at one point, so retailers have it in their system for that date. But it does seem like Indicator have rescheduled it for next year, unless they mixed the releo altogether.

OK, we can now reveal that a couple of US retail sites accidentally jumped the gun and erroneously listed Patrick as coming out in mid-December - which was indeed the original planned release date, but we needed more time to get it just right.

But we hope you'll be happy with how it turned out:
