I've been told several times to make a thread based on the knowledge I acquired over the years regarding audio tracks and their issues on BD/UHD releases. But I couldn't figure out how to format it properly and now I believe I have, I decided to make this thread specifically dedicated to audio tracks on BD/UHD releases that are incorrectly pitched, whether they be remixes or "original" mixes. If it's incorrectly pitched in some form or another it can go here. If one also knows "fixes" to the incorrectly pitched audio tracks, I'll add those too.
An American Werewolf in London (1981): Issue: *5.1 remix across the various Universal DVD and BD releases are pitched too low. Fixes: *Arrow BD and UHD releases have a mono track that's correctly pitched along with the 5.1 track being corrected. Bitter Moon (1992): Issue: *US Kino Lorber BD pitched too high due to improper 25fps to 24fps conversion. Fixes: *All other BD's outside the US are correct. Creepshow (1982): Issue: *Second Sight and 2018 US Shout! Factory BD's have a 5.1 track that's pitched too high and has sync issues. Fixes: *US Warner Bros. BD is correct. *2.0 track on Shout's 2018 BD is correct. *Shout's 2023 UHD has remastered stereo and a newly created 5.1 track that are correctly pitched. Deer Hunter, The (1978): Issue: *Studio Canal BD has a 5.1 track that's pitched too high. Fixes: *2.0 track on the Studio Canal BD is correct. *5.1 and 2.0 tracks on US Universal BD, US Shout! Factory UHD, and Studio Canal UHD are correct. Dekalog (1989): Issue: *Criterion BD pitched too low due to improper 25fps to 24fps conversion. *UK Arrow BD pitched too high despite being in the correct 25fps framerate. Fixes: *Polish TVP BD is correct. (NOTE: aspect ratio is cropped to 1.78:1, correct aspect ratio is 1.33:1) Evil Dead, The (1981): Issue: *US Lionsgate UHD's 5.1 track is pitched too low. Fixes: *UK Sony UHD is correct. Fog, The (1980): Issue: *Studio Canal UHD's 5.1 and "mono" tracks are pitched too high. Fixes: *US Shout! Factory UHD's various audio tracks are correct. Four Musketeers, The (1974): Issue: *Studio Canal BD/UHD's mono mix pitched too high. Fixes: *Criterion UHD is correct. Magnificent Seven, The (1960): Issue: *5.1 track on MGM BD pitched too low. Fixes: *Mono track on MGM BD is correct. *5.1 and mono tracks on Shout UHD are correct. Pink Panther Strikes Again, The (1976): Issue: *Shout BD has both stereo and mono tracks incorrectly pitched (unknown if it's too high or too low). Fixes: *Shout BD's 5.1 track is allegedly correct. Police Story 2 (1988): Issue: *Criterion BD's 5.1 track is pitched too low. Fixes: *Criterion BD's mono mix is correct. Rocky II (1979): Issue: *Early copies of the UHD had both the 5.1 and "original theatrical" 2.0 tracks pitched too low. Fixes: *Corrected disc's 5.1 and original theatrical 2.0 tracks are correct. Rocky III (1982): Issue: *Early copies of the UHD had foreign dubs incorrectly pitched too low. Fixes: *Corrected disc has corrected foreign dub mixes. Sweet Smell of Success (1957): Issue: *Criterion and UK Arrow BD's have the same audio transfer which is pitched too low. Fixes: *MGM DVD is correct. Teen Wolf (1985): Issue: *Mono track on MGM BD pitched too low. *Stereo track on Shout BD is an upmix of the MGM BD's mono so is also pitched too low Fixes: *MGM DVD is correct. Three Days of the Condor (1975): Issue: *Studio Canal BD has a 5.1 track that's pitched too high. Fixes: *Studio Canal BD's 2.0 track is (allegedly) correct. *Studio Canal UHD (allegedly) has correct 5.1 and 2.0 tracks. *Paramount BD's 5.1 track is correct. *Kino Lorber UHD's 5.1 and 2.0 tracks are correct. Three Musketeers, The (1973): Issue: *Studio Canal BD/UHD's mono mix pitched too high. Fixes: *Criterion UHD is correct. Wallace & Gromit: The Complete Cracking Collection BD (Shout! Factory): Issue: *Various audio tracks incorrectly pitched due to improper 25fps to 24fps conversions. For specifics, check out this post: https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...49&postcount=7 Fixes: *Shout UHD release corrects the pitch issues though the Aardman logos are now pitched too high. World at War, The (1973): Issue: *US Freemantle BD is incorrectly pitched too low due to improper 25fps to 24fps conversion. Fixes: *UK Network BD is correct and has the proper 25fps framerate.
